Edmund Lynn “Pete” Peterson, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away on November 8, 2024, at Mountain View Hospital in Payson, Utah, surrounded by his family. He was 79 years old.
Pete was born to Edmund and Gwyneth Tatton Peterson on November 29, 1944, in Manti, Utah. At age five, his family moved to Spanish Fork, where he spent the rest of his childhood and graduated from Spanish Fork High School in 1963. After high school, Pete attended Snow College for one year before attending Utah Technical College, earning an associate degree in diesel mechanics. Pete worked at Kennecott Copper for 39 years, where he was known for his hard work, skill, and dedication.
On November 20, 1964, Pete married the love of his life, Jeneal Reynolds. They were later sealed for time and all eternity in the LDS Salt Lake Temple on March 31, 1967. Their marriage was built on a deep love and commitment to each other, and together, they raised three children: Troy Lynn Peterson, Bryan Shane (Linda) Peterson, and Angela Dawn (J.) Spencer.
Pete was a man who found great joy in life’s simple pleasures, especially when shared with family. He had a deep love for the outdoors and cherished the time he spent hunting, fishing, and camping with his loved ones. Manti Canyon held a special place in his heart; he knew its trails and terrain like the back of his hand. Later in life, Pete and Jeneal enjoyed the tradition of being snowbirds, spending their winters in Yuma, Arizona, where they made lasting memories with friends.
Over the years, Pete’s family grew to include nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren, with twins due in March 2025. He adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and took great pride in their accomplishments. His love for them will live on in the many memories they made together.
Pete was preceded in death by his parents, Edmund and Gwyneth Tatton Peterson; his in-laws, Irvin and Alice Koyle Reynolds; his sisters, Barbara Burk and Nancy Mecham; his brother-in-law, Lamar Reynolds; his sister-in-law, Loretta Reynolds; and two grandsons, Jarid Lynn Spencer and Jordon Pete Spencer. He is survived by his loving wife, Jeneal; their three children; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will miss him dearly.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses, and Mountain View Hospital & Enhabit Hospice staff for their care and kindness during Pete’s final days. They also wish to express gratitude to all those who have offered prayers, love, and support during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you donate to a charity of your choice in Pete’s memory.
Dedication of Grave: Friday, November 15, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Payson City Cemetery.
Pete’s legacy of love, service, and devotion will live on through his family. He will be greatly missed, but his memory will remain in the hearts of all who know him.
