Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Diane Watts Averett, passed away peacefully at her home in Spanish Fork, Utah, on November 7, 2025, at the age of 72. Diane was born on October 7, 1953, in Provo, Utah, to R.L. and Bernice Watts.
Diane grew up in Springville, Utah, where she spent her childhood surrounded by family and friends. After marrying the love of her life, Gary Allen Averett, on April 30, 1971, the couple made their home in Spanish Fork, where they lovingly raised their three children. In August 1987, they were sealed together for time and all eternity with their children in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Diane was a woman of immense talent and quiet strength. A gifted seamstress, she spent countless hours sewing, crocheting, and creating handmade treasures that will be cherished for generations. She found joy in baking, serving others, and—above all—spending time with her family. Her warmth, patience, and gentle spirit blessed everyone who knew her.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Gary Allen Averett; her children Tyler Watts Averett (Crystal) of Salem, Utah, and Amanda (Mandy) Stone (Rhett) of Spanish Fork, Utah; her sister Nannette Reinhold; and her brother Brent Watts. She is also survived by her nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense joy and pride.
Diane was preceded in death by her parents, R.L. and Bernice Watts, her cherished daughter Shannon Kate Averett, and her beloved grandson Triston Tyler Averett.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 14, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 1006 East 200 South, Spanish Fork, Utah. A viewing will precede the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. Following the funeral, interment will take place at the Evergreen Cemetery, 1997 S. 400 E., Springville, Utah.
Diane’s legacy of love, creativity, and faith will live on through her family and all who were blessed to know her.
