With an old soul, and a knowing spirit, her consciousness lived on both sides of the veil. Destiny Dawn Curtis, a charismatic, funny, loving, and brave young girl, left us all too soon on November 17, 2024. Born on June 29, 2008, in Payson, Utah, Destiny spent her youth filling the world around her with joy and laughter. She was a social butterfly, her presence a vibrant splash of color in the canvas of life. Destiny’s penchant for music, dance, kinetic sand, coloring, and the simple joy of visiting with friends and family, seeing, and holding puppies and babies, showcased her innocence and enjoyment of simple pleasures. Even in her short life, she taught us the value of living in the moment and appreciating the small things.
In the words of Maya Angelou, “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” Destiny made everyone feel special. She had an innate ability to connect with people, making them laugh with her jokes and teasing. She grew up in Payson, Utah, and later moved to Cherryvale, Kansas, where she lived with her doting mom, Christy, and her loving brother, Logan. Destiny was undeniably a Daddy’s girl, her dad’s princess, Logan’s partner-in-crime, and an affectionate aunt to the littles. Her stubborn and bossy nature was endearing and was part of her unique charm.
Destiny’s love for her family, friends, and caregivers reflected her loving nature. She is survived by her mother, Christy Curtis; father, Don Curtis; brothers, Logan Curtis, Nathan (Erica) White, Christopher Stewart; sisters, MaKeisha (Robert) Villarreal, and Brittany Turner. Destiny now joins her grandparents, Jacob Peay, Goldie Curtis, Don Curtis; uncle, Aaron Peay, Mark Westphal; and aunt, Angela Cauley, in eternal rest. Her departure is a stark reminder of Helen Keller’s words, “What we have once enjoyed deeply we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes a part of us.”

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Payson City Cemetery located at 400 North 800 East in Payson, Utah. Visitation will be held prior from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home, 587 South 100 West, Payson, Utah.
