Derrick Jay Larsen, born July 20, 1992, in Payson, Utah, was a soul who moved through life with quiet compassion and a heart always ready to serve. To those who knew him, Derrick was steady, present, and deeply loving in every role he held—son, partner, father, friend. He gave of himself freely, never hesitating when someone needed help, whether it was family, a neighbor, or a stranger who simply crossed his path.

Derrick found joy in creating and building, in breathing new life into forgotten things, and in learning something new whenever he could. He cherished the stillness of the mountains and the simple magic of camping with his family. He loved long conversations about everything and nothing, Derrick embraced being silly just as easily as he fell into being serious. His ambition, drive, creativity, and warmth shaped the world around him.

Derrick was a devoted father. His children were his pride, his purpose, and his greatest joy. He made sure his family was cared for, supported, and surrounded by love. As a friend, Derrick was authentic and unwavering—quick to celebrate your victories, honest enough to set you straight when needed, and always ready to lift you up when life felt heavy. If you called, he showed up. That was simply who he was.

Derrick is survived by his parents, Dennis and Rose Larsen; his brothers Bryce and Kyle Larsen; his best friend and partner, Taylor Larsen; and their two children, Tayte and Max Larsen. He leaves behind countless friends and family members who will forever feel the void of his absence and carry the memory of his kindness, humor, and steadfast love.

Derrick Jay Larsen, age 34, passed away on August 13, 2026, in Provo, Utah. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 17, 2026, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 545 North 200 East in Santaquin, Utah. Visitation will be held prior from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow at Santaquin City Cemetery, 100 East 300 South, Santaquin, Utah.

Derrick’s presence made life brighter. His absence makes it quieter. And his memory will continue to guide those who loved him, reminding them to serve others, to stay curious, and to love without hesitation—just as he did.
