Dennis Wayne Remington August 3, 1943 - January 5, 2019

Dennis Wayne Remington passed away at home on Saturday January 5, 2019 at the age of 75. Dennis is survived by his wife Jolayne and three children, Benjamin and (Darlyn) Remington, Julie and (Leif) Larsen, and Carmen and (Aaron) Jacobus. He is survived by his grandchildren Jacoby Remington, Jess Westover, Eliza Remington, Tyler Fetzer, Reminton Larsen, Payton Larsen, Gage Karren, Darien Karren, Braxton Karren, and two step-grandsons Casey Jacobus and Tyler Jacobus. He also had three great grandchildren Brielle Jacobus, Nixon Karren, and Aria Jacobus.

Dennis was born in Cardston, Alberta to Don and Afton Remington. He grew up in Cardston as the third of four boys, Bryce, Kent and Randy. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking and other outdoors activities. He served a mission in the North Central States Mission and then attended the University of Alberta in Edmonton. While in Edmonton, he met and married Jolayne Low in the Cardston Temple in 1966. After graduating from medical school at the U of A, he and Jolayne moved to Calgary where he practiced medicine. In 1980 he moved the family to Utah and continued to practice medicine.

Dennis was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and a compassionate physician. He co-authored “How to Lower Your Fat Thermostat” and wrote several other books about other health concerns. His medical practice included traditional medicine, alternative medicine, allergy and weight control methods. His skill and caring helped many patients find relief from difficult problems.

He also enjoyed riding horses, 4wheelers, hiking, golfing and playing the saxophone. He had Missouri Fox Trotter horses that he raised and he really enjoyed the breeding and raising of horses for a time. He learned how to turn wood and made many beautiful objects, some of which he gifted to family and friends.

He was a very kind man and while he wasn’t the chattiest of people, he could always be counted on to insert a witty quip or wry comment into most conversations. We will greatly miss him and his sometimes slightly bizarre sense of humor.

The family will be honoring his life on Saturday January 12 from 1:00pm to 3:00pm at the Canyon View Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 989 South, Spanish Fork Parkway (2550 East), Spanish Fork, Utah. Interment will be in the Cardston, Alberta Cemetery on January 26.
