Our beloved mother, wife, daughter, sister, and Grandma Dena Hazel Hansen returned to her father in heaven on Monday March 25th, 2024, surrounded by loved ones after fighting health issues for many years.
Dena was born on February 11th of 1968 in Payson, UT to Gerald and Karen Hazel. She graduated from Spanish Fork High School with the class of 1986. She then attended Weber State University and obtained her associate degree in nursing in 1990.
Dena had a passion for nursing and worked as an RN for UVRMC (Provo Hospital at the time), she then transitioned into home health and had many roles including Director of Nursing and Director of Hospice.
Dena married Brett Cornaby in 1987. They were blessed with 2 beautiful daughters and later divorced. She then married Clay J. Hansen in 2016 and gained 5 bonus children, making it a joyous combined total of 7 kids between them.
Dena had many passions including boating, shopping, reading, writing, traveling, camping, car rides, spending time with family, and cooking. She was a fashionista and always loved getting glammed up. Serving and caring for others was something she loved doing. She lit up every room she was in with her beautiful smile. She was so brave and strong as she endured many trials and never complained once. Instead, she wanted to know how she can help you.
Dena’s biggest passion above all was being a devoted mother to her children and would’ve moved heaven and earth for them. Spending time with them meant more to her than anything. She was an amazing mother who meant so much to her family and will be missed dearly.
Dena is survived by her husband Clay J. Hansen, Mother Karen N Hazel, daughters Kylie (Bowdy), Kenzie (Chandler), Alisha (Jeremy), Zach, Jared, Taylor (Bronson), Josie, 7 Grandchildren, 2 Grandpups (Fergie, Millie), Sister Gayleen (J. Lynn), Geralyn (Lynn), Denise (Brad), Danalyn (Mike), Brother Brandon (Makala), Derrick (Nicole), 16 nieces and nephews.
Dena is preceded in death by Father Gerald M Hazel, Grandparents Marion and Zella Hazel, and Charles and Reva Nelson.
We would like to give a very special thanks to the staff at Envision Homecare and hospice and A Plus homecare and Hospice who cared for and loved Dena for the past year and a half.
