Debra Ann King, 70, passed away peacefully with her caring husband by her side, on June 3rd, 2022, after a long battle with cancer. Deb was born in Payson, Utah and was raised by her loving parents Fenton and Betty Finch in south Provo.
Deb graduated from Provo High School in 1970 and then attended Brigham Young University. At BYU she received a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. Deb was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and held multiple callings.
Deb married her sweetheart Curtis W. King on July 22nd, 1977, in the Provo Temple. They had four children, two sons and two daughters, whom they raised in Provo near her childhood home and her family. “Teacher Deb” taught preschool in her home for years and most recently taught kindergarten at HMK Elementary School, in Moab, for 15 years. One of her favorite things was running into former students. Teacher Deb touched the lives of hundreds of children during her life.
In 2006, after their children were grown, Deb and Curtis moved to Moab, Utah, which had been their happy place for years. She loved four-wheeling and was a wonderful and brave passenger while Curtis drove their Bronco. Deb was an active member of the Red Rock 4-Wheelers Association. Deb loved her peaceful, beautiful home in Moab and her favorite place was sitting on the front porch. Her family was her greatest joy and she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Deb is survived by her husband, Curtis, her children Brooke (Codey) Phillips, Spanish Fork, Jeremey King, Palmyra, Cody (Molly) King, Lehi, and Shyanne (Ray) Carter, Payson. Deb is survived by her 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild on the way. Deb was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Lana Barclay, and her nephew McKay Sorensen.
Funeral services will be Friday June 10th at 11:00 a.m. at 2530 West 200 South, Provo.
