Dean T. Wignall passed away on August 11, 2025, in Spanish Fork, Utah. Dean was born to Joseph Wells and Goldie Victoria Tanner Wignall on October 17, 1927, in Payson, Utah. He was one of nine children.
He graduated from Payson High School in 1946. Dean served honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1950 to 1952. A year after returning home from the war, he married Nedra Brereton. Dean and Nedra were sealed for time and all eternity on June 29, 1963, in the Manti Utah Temple. They were blessed with five children.
Dean worked hard to provide for his family as a farmer, restaurant owner, and a meat inspector for the State of Utah. Dean and Nedra also owned the El Rancho Nursing Home in Payson for many years. Dean was a member of the American Legion and served other veterans. He enjoyed deer hunting and travel but most of all he loved spending time with family.
He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and used his farming expertise working on the church farm for years.
Dean is survived by his wife of 72 years, Nedra; his children, Mike (Cindy) Wignall, Bart (LuAnn) Wignall, and Wendy (Dean Bowers) Wignall; eight grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren and one on the way. He was the last living sibling of four brothers and four sisters. He was also preceded in death by his sons Dean Jr. and Terry Joe Wignall.
The family thanks Spanish Fork Hospital especially Dr. Crane, and the nurses and technicians for the loving care they provided to Dean.
Dad will be remembered as a great parent, not only to his children but their friends too, loving husband, grandfather, and friend. He will be dearly missed.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at 3:00 p.m. on September 12, 2025, at Payson City Cemetery located at 400 North 800 East in Payson, Utah. A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 14, 2025, at Dean and Nedra’s home and all are welcome.
