David Merrill Gappmayer, 58, of Salem, Utah, passed away peacefully on the evening of June 1 st , 2026 surrounded by his loving family.
Born on January 8 th , 1968 in Provo, Utah, David was the oldest child of Merrill and Marie Gappmayer. He attended Mountian View High school, Brigham Young University and Utah Valley University. David was proud of his time spent serving his country in the Air National Guard as well as his successful career in software engineering.
David and his family lived in many different cities in the states of Washington and Utah throughout his adult life, eventually moving back to Utah to be near his parents and siblings during his final years.
David will be remembered fondly for his infectious sense of humor, his lifelong passion for reading and his love for his family.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Gappmayer, as well as their three sons and three daughters in law, Oliver, Ashley, Simon, Liv, Calvin and Nina.
A celebration of David’s life will be held Saturday, June 6 th , 2026 at 825 Hawks Rest Dr in Mapleton, Utah. The viewing will begin at 9:30 AM and the funeral will begin at 11AM. Family, friends and others are invited to come and reminisce.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in David’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association.
