Darrell Gene Stephens Ries July 15, 1939 - July 6, 2022

Darrell Gene Ries, 82, of Spanish Fork, Utah passed away on July 6, 2022.

Darrell was born on July 15, 1939 in Burley, Idaho to his parents Joseph David Ries and Lurella Jane Tannehill. He attended and graduated from Spanish Fork, High School. He married his sweetheart DeeAnne Crump on August 28, 1958 in Palmyra, Utah and they together raised 3 children.

He was proud to have served his country in the U.S. Army and enjoyed his work in the U.S. Government, Civil Service, as a Truck Driver, and for the Longview Fiber Company.

Darrell was a member for the VFW and enjoyed serving as a volunteer Firefighter at Stratmoor Hills, Colorado Springs, Colorado.

He had many hobbies that he enjoyed. Some of his favorites consisted of camping, hunting, fishing, taking care of his land and cows, and going to “coffee” with friends.

Darrell is survived by his son Russell Ries of Spanish Fork, Utah, daughter Cynthia (Antoine) Dubrey of Layton, Utah, 2 grandchildren, Brandon Dubrey, and Karen Anne Connors Dempsey, 2 great grandchildren, Colin and Liam Dempsey, 4 brothers, Clinton (Jolene) Stephens, Edward Clark, William Ries, Thomas Ries, and sister, Rose (Vaughn) Scholes.

He is preceded in death by his sweetheart, DeeAnne Crump, daughter, Cheryl Ries, sisters, Laura Kemp, Carolyn Teeter, brothers, Vernon Stephens, David Ries, and parents, Lurella Tannehill and Joseph Ries.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. located at the Palmyra Church Building. Family and friends may attend a visitation on Tuesday, July 19, 2022 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. located at Walker Funeral Home, 187 South Main Street, Spanish Fork, Utah and at the church from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to services.

Interment will be held at the Spanish Fork Cemetery.
