Darlene Ella Potrude passed into the presence of her Lord and Savior peacefully surrounded by loved ones on September 29, 2022. Darlene was born to James Howard and Adlah Victoria Anderson Potrude in Cadillac, Michigan on November 21, 1944. She was the youngest of two daughters.
She was raised in Onstead, Michigan and graduated from Onstead High School. Darlene went on to attend Grand Rapids School of Bible and Music in Grand Rapids, Michigan and graduated in 1967.
Darlene moved West from Michigan to Blackfoot, Idaho and then to Nephi and Payson Utah.
Darlene’s focus and life was filled with serving her Lord in church ministry and as a full time missionary. She served with Biblical Ministries Worldwide for many years and a few years with Evangelic Baptist Mission teaching the Bible to children and adults. She also had a Bible Correspondence school, did counseling, and served at Key Radio. She was a faithful worker in Awana at Payson Bible Church and was attending Grace Bible Church of Springville, Utah before her health declined. She loved the Lord and loved caring for others.
Although she remained single, she ministered to many. Her family was dear to her, and she cared for her mother in her mother’s last years, and was like a mother with her care for her nephew and nieces.
She enjoyed playing games, doing Sudoku, working on crossword puzzles, crocheting, watching television, and cuddling her pets. She was an accomplished seamstress and sewed for her family.
Darlene is survived by her nieces Cynthia (David) Barnett of Payson, Utah and Rebecca (John) Jones of Abilene, Texas and her nephew Jeffrey Scott of Abilene, Texas. She also leaves behind her close friend Charlotte Bechtel. She is preceded in death by her parents and sister Beverly Potrude.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 7, 2022, at Walker Funeral Home, 587 South 100 West, Payson, Utah. Visitation will be from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior at the funeral home. Interment will be in Payson City Cemetery, 400 North 800 East, Payson, Utah.
