Danny Orvil Stubblefield passed away, surrounded by his family on Wednesday, July 23, 2025.
Danny was born on October 27, 1942 to Norma Brackenbury and Orvil Edward Stubblefield.
In 1945 Tragedy struck when a gas mining explosion at the Sunnyside mine took Ovril Edward and 22 others to their heavenly home, leaving Danny, his mother, Norma, and his sister, Leah Stubblefield (Garbett) behind.
Norma later remarried Charles Wesley Brackenbury Jr, & they grew the family by two children.
Danny Graduated from Monticello High School in 1960, that same year, he met the love of his life under the shade of an old oak tree he was cutting down. He scared her off before the tree fell. They married three years later on April 25, 1963 in the Manti, Utah Temple.
Danny had a great love for the outdoors. Whether it was archery, hunting, fishing, tying flies, reloading bullets or just sitting in a chair, breathing in the scent of pine and watching the aspens flash their leaves in the breeze.
There was nothing Danny loved in this world more than his family. Every moment spent surrounded by his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren was time well spent – time he wouldn’t have traded away for anything in the world.
When Danny wasn’t enjoying his hobbies or spending time with family, he could be found creating incredible things with his hands. He had a Knack for building everything from Utilitarian structures to beautiful works of art that can be seen across the state of Utah,
Danny was a member of the LDS Church, holding the positions of executive secretary in the bishopric, ward missionary, and secretary of the high priests .
Danny is survived by his loving wife, Karen Lee Stubblefield; his Daughters, Tonya (Mike) Hunsaker, and Tracy (Keith) Mecham; his brother, Charles Wesley Brackenbury III; his grandchildren, Christopher Hunsaker, Dann’yell (Todd) Anderson, Zac (Kellie) Hunsaker, Trevor (Stacy) Mecham, Mallorie (Greg) Mora; and his extended family, Josh (Charity) Kresge, and 11 great grandchildren.
Danny is preceded in death by his parents and step father; sisters, Leah, Ruth Garbett & Norma (Toodles) Looney.
We would like to thank Danny’s granddaughter Dann’yell Anderson, for caring for him so courageously for several weeks until his last breath.
We would also like to thank Intermountain Hospice for their service at this time: Marsha, Margaret, and all the other nurses that attended Danny during these last several weeks.
