Conway Fred Mecham was born on July 7, 2025, in Orem, Utah, and passed away in his parents’ arms on January 11, 2026, at Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City.
Conway spent his entire life fighting. He was born at 26 weeks and 4 days due to pregnancy complications. Shortly after his birth, it was discovered that he had SCID (Severe Combined Immunodeficiency). In addition to being extremely premature, this diagnosis brought an entirely new and complex dynamic to his hospitalization. But he was loved every second of the way, every hard day and every good day. Conway fought with incredible strength and determination until the very last second of his life.
Conway is deeply loved by his parents and by his big sister, who was so excited to love and protect her baby brother. She will always carry him in her heart and speak his name with pride, even though she never got to hold him the way she should have. He will forever be her little brother, and she will always be his big sister.
Our lives were forever changed by Conway and by losing him. The future we imagined with him feels impossibly quiet without his cries, his milestones, and the memories we were meant to make. We grieve not only the son we lost, but the lifetime we should have had with him.
Though our hearts ache with indescribable pain, we find comfort in knowing this is not goodbye forever. We hold onto the hope that one day we will see our sweet boy again, and until that day, we will carry him with us in everything we do.
Conway is survived by his loving parents, Colt and Nikki, and his big sister, Isabella, and is also lovingly remembered by many extended family members. He is preceded in death by his Grandma Christy, Aunt Courtney, and Great-Uncle Virgil.
Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever our Conway.
A visitation will be held in Conway’s honor on Tuesday, January 20, 2026 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home located at 187 South Main St., Spanish Fork, Utah. A graveside service will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Mapleton Cemetery.
