Connie Measom Livestream Broadcast

Connie Barnes Measom, 79, passed away on December 29, 2025, after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. Connie was born on April 19, 1946 to Clarence Norman Barnes and Elizabeth Gull Barnes in Spanish Fork, Utah. She was the oldest of four children.

Connie loved growing up in Spanish Fork. She was active in athletics and would roller skate everywhere she went. Connie was also a very fast runner. She told her children that the only person in Spanish Fork who could outrun her in the 100-yard dash was her younger brother Henry. She attended Thurber Elementary, Spanish Fork Junior High, and Spanish Fork High School, graduating in 1964. Connie participated in many extracurricular activities, including Thespians and Pep Club, which brought her great memories as well as lifelong friendships.

As a teenager, one of Connie’s favorite sources of entertainment was “dragging” Spanish Fork Main Street, which was how she met Kent Measom, a handsome young man from Lake Shore. Connie said she fell in love with him within ten minutes. Kent and Connie were married a year later on January 7, 1965 in the Salt Lake Temple. They had eight children, raising their family in Northern California and Pleasant Grove, Utah.

Connie was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities in the church, including Relief Society president, Primary president, Young Women’s president, and various teaching positions. She had a great love of family history and spent countless hours researching her ancestors and making sure their temple work was completed. We know her ancestors are pleased with the service she provided them.

As her children got older, Connie decided to study nursing and graduated from Weber State University with an associate’s degree in nursing. Connie particularly loved caring for older patients as a home health nurse. In 1993, Connie and Kent started their own home health agency, Horizon Home Health in Orem, Utah. They ran the business for many years and worked hard to make the business successful. Many people were helped by the service they provided.

Connie believed that anything worth doing was worth doing well. This attribute showed up in her many talents. She was a talented seamstress and quilter but cooking was her great love. She had a reputation for being an excellent cook, treating everyone she could to her wonderful meals, baked goods, and homemade candies. Connie also loved watching sports, especially when her children or grandchildren were playing.

Connie was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2007 and while the disease eventually took away her ability to do many of the things she loved, it never took away her love of learning. Just a few months before her death, Connie completed her long-held goal of graduating from Brigham Young University with a bachelor’s degree in public health.

After 54 years of marriage, Kent passed away of leukemia in 2019. Connie is pleased to be reunited with him.

Connie is survived by her children, Polly Measom (Mike Miller), Erin Measom, Tyler Measom (Diana Whitten), Amber Rawle (Richard), Megan Sivert (Bill), Nathan Measom (Michael Harper), 23 grandchildren and six great grandchildren as well as her sisters Margaret Barnes and Barbara Lindblad (Mike). She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Henry Barnes, her husband Kent, her daughters Amanda Measom and Marnie Spencer (Wesley), and her grandson Joseph Spencer.

Connie and her family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Abbington Manor in Lehi for the excellent care they gave to Connie and to her hospice caregivers, Marianne Sivert, LeAnn Christensen, and Mariela Torres, as well as her long-time friend and caregiver, Kat Martin.

Margaret and Barbara, It is with much love and sadness that I write this. I have always loved your family as I spent so much time growing up there. Playing dress up and spook alleys in the cellar. Connie was always so pleasant. Always a smile. She and Kent were the perfect pair. They accomplished so much together and what a beautiful family. I wish I could be there to hug you and visit but the flu caught up with me. I will certainly watch it which is a great comfort that they make that possible. I know she is so happy to be back with her husband. and other family members that has been waiting for her. Sending so much love.
