In Loving Memory of Colton Todd

Colton Todd left this earth on December 1st, 2025, at the age of 39. Born in St. George, Utah, on June 21st, 1986, to Conrad and Peggy Todd, Colton brought a unique light into the world that will be deeply missed by everyone lucky enough to know him.

Colton spent his early years in St. George, Utah, and Henderson, Nevada, before moving to Mapleton at age seven, where he grew up. He attended Mapleton Elementary School, Springville Junior High, and Springville High School, where he was a good student who always did well in the classroom. He was very smart, and school was easy for him. He was just as talented on the football field, starting and excelling as a linebacker while pulling triple duty as the team’s kicker and punter. Through his younger years, he was a fun loving kid who was always smiling and having a good time. He loved swimming, and on family Lake Powell trips would stay in the water for hours. He learned how to skateboard and was often in the front driveway practicing new tricks. He had a small, tight-knit group of friends who are still close today. He was a devoted friend who cared deeply and always made sure to keep in touch.

Following school, he built a successful 16-year career at eBay, where he was instrumental in building and designing internal training programs for employees.

But Colton was defined by so much more than his work. He was a man of many passions and immense talent.

Colton picked up a guitar in his teenage years and, along with his best friends Jeremy Poore and Brodie Miller, formed the band “Scott and the Goose”. Sadly, their band aspirations were short-lived, but their love of music carried on through their deep friendship. He was the reason his nephews, Payton and Max, took up guitar. He taught Max from scratch, and all 3 of them played together often. Music was Colton’s peace. He was a talented guitar player, and his love for music was infectious. Whether it was sharing songs with friends, or listening to and playing favorites, music was a constant thread in his life. He was always playing guitar for Poppy at home so she could dance while he played, and would often be found playing on the balcony at the end of a long day.

He was a skilled photographer. Colton was rarely seen without a camera, always eager to capture the perfect moment. He was incredibly patient—whether he was taking dance pictures for a group of chaotic teenagers or spending an hour in his parents’ backyard to get the perfect shot of a dog running. He loved sharing his photos and offering his talent to anyone who needed it. He was also always taking photos of his daughter, Poppy. Photos we will now cherish forever.

Colton loved his motorcycle and going for rides when he could spare the time.

He loved games and was always the center of the fun at any gathering. If there was a game being played—Mafia, volleyball, dodgeball, or soccer—Colton was in the middle of it, bringing the best attitude and a smile to everyone’s face. (He also possessed a unique, almost impressive ability to get injured in ways that were impossible to explain.)

He was the best brother and son. He brought such a peaceful yet fun presence to our home growing up.

Above all, Colton was a devoted husband and father. He met the love of his life, Haley, in 2008. Together for 17 years and married for 4. They built a beautiful life and friendship together. Colton took care of his family’s every need and desire. Poppy was the light of his life, and he was meant to be her dad. He was a gentle, fun, and joy-loving father who lived on her laughter. He fostered her creativity and encouraged her to explore the world.

As Haley expressed, “He is my sun, center of my gravity, my warmth, and my heart. He is the calm in the storm. He is my person, and better to me than I could have ever imagined for myself.”

Colton will be deeply missed. He was truly unique. He has left a hole in our lives that will never be filled, and never should be.

At this time of deep sadness, our family asks that you reach out to connect with those you love. Heal family wounds. Cultivate safe spaces of love and trust. Look deep into their eyes and check in with their souls. Be vulnerable. Our short time on this earth is so precious. Don’t let it slip away without making deep connections and lasting relationships. It’s what matters most.

Colton…. When it came to family events and family gatherings, I always knew that I’d have someone to talk to when you were there. You were typically the only one who made a concentrated effort to ask about my life, ask about the kids, and engage in conversation.

The kids always loved seeing you. They loved spending time with Uncle Colton. Your positivity and energy was infectious. Your smile and laughter always bright levity to any chaotic situation.

You will be truly missed, my friend. By me, McKenna, your niece and nephews over here. Nothing will ever be the same without you.

    Rest in power.

Colton, I was truly so shocked and saddened to hear the terrible news of your passing. I’ve had the privilege of working with you over the last few years and I know our team will never be the same without your kind, caring, supportive presence.
We made so many great memories, most notably on your recent trip to Dublin. Your humour and enthusiasm made for unforgettable moments; from hilarious team-building games, to sightseeing, impromptu comedy shows and just having laughs together.
I will truly miss your wit, your calming nature, and the stories you would share about your beautiful family. Sending love and strength to Poppy, Haley and everyone who was closest to you. Rest in peace, Colton.

Colton my good friend, I was saddened to hear of your passing. We enjoyed many good times working together on projects, the Covid parking lot tailgate team lunches, and watching your eyes light up as you talked about your little family — Haley and Poppy. Thank you for your creativity, your passion for helping others learn, and your knowledge of the business and design. Always so easy to talk with about anything, I appreciated your open mind, honesty, and genuine love for people. My condolences to your family, Haley and Poppy, and the many friends you’ve made over the years. Thank you for touching my life. Be at peace.

Colton, I’m heartbroken and in shock by your passing. Far too young to be gone and it’s incredibly hard to accept that someone we worked alongside is gone so suddenly. You will be deeply missed, not only for your work, but for the kindness and presence you brought to those around you. My thoughts are with your family, I can’t imagine the pain they are enduring, and I hope they feel surrounded by care, compassion, and strength during this unimaginable time – many of us here are holding them in our hearts and sharing in their grief.
