Thelbert L. Curtis (Chub) passed away on March 17, 2019 at the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo, Utah. Chub passed away due to complication from Pneumonia.
Chub was born May 31, 1934 and was raised in Spanish Fork, Utah. His parents were Cecil Ingeborg Johnson and John Wilburn (Wib) Curtis. Siblings were: W. Howard (Fern) Curtis, Zola (Jerry) Gilner deceased, Paul (Maryan) Curtis and Jayne (Tim) Anderson.
Chub grew up in Spanish Fork, Utah where he went through the educational system including Spanish Fork High School. He later attended Stevens-Henager College, majoring in business. He later became employed with International Harvester as a technician /service rep for over twenty years.
He later owned and managed an automotive parts store called Auto Parts and Equipment in Spanish Fork, Utah for over 17 yrs. He then managed another store called Magic Auto Store in Salt Lake City.
He had a love for tools, machines, motorcycles and anything with an engine. He loved working on anything that needed fixing. His hobbies included drag racing, 4-wheeling, motorcycles and jet skis. He had a love for all types of cars and just getting dirty. He had a love and dedication for his family. He would do anything for his family. He was a dedicated father, dad, husband and friend. He was involved in scouts and the young men’s for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He served in a variety of positions in the church including a counselor in the bishopric.
Chub married Janice (Roberts) Curtis in 1956 in the Salt Lake Temple. They had three children: Emily (Scott) Stoery, Sisters, OR., John (Paula) Curtis, Salem, UT; Mark (Carolyn) Curtis, Sandy, UT. Jan Curtis later passed away in 1989.
In 1990, Chub later married Marilyn Rose (Clawson) in the Los Angeles LDS Temple where they gained three more children; Kathy Middlebrook & Matt Kerr, Midway, UT. Mark (Lynda) Middlebrook, Springville, UT. , Debby (Mardi) Middlebrook, Mission Viejo, CA. They have 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
The funeral services will be at the LDS Summit Ridge 4th Ward at 591 Summit Ridge Parkway, Santaquin, Utah on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at 11:00 a.m., there will be a viewing before the funeral from 9:30 a.m. – 10:45 a.m.
