Christine Woodward Hyde December 12, 1944 - January 22, 2022

Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and wife left the struggles of this life on January 22, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.

Christine was born in Provo, Utah on December 12, 1944, to Calvin and Vivian Woodward.  She spent much of her childhood in Provo, until moving to Springville and graduating from Springville High School in 1963 where she was a member of Springville A Cappella Choir.  She married James Muhlestein, later divorced.  From this union came her six children, her pride and joy.  Christine was a proud member of Springville Ambulance SAVERS as an Emergency Medical Technician.  During her time on the ambulance, Christine enjoyed teaching new EMT’s as an instructor at BYU and Utah Trade Tech, and giving service to those in her community.  She also served as a dispatcher for the Springville Police Department, and called this time of service the greatest time of her life.  She later married David Hyde and moved to Spanish Fork, Utah.

Christine was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She had many callings in the church over the years including Primary, Relief Society, Young Women’s and as a minister to many wonderful people that she loved. She and Dave served a service mission at the Lindon Cannery.

Christine had an insatiable love of holidays, especially Christmas.  During Christmastime, her home was like its own Christmas Village, and always full of the smells of amazing dishes she loved to cook.  Christine loved nothing more than being surrounded by her children and grandchildren.  She lived to share with her grandkids her love of music, cooking, sewing and decorating for every holiday.  She had a natural talent for art and framing, and owned her own custom frame shop for many years.

Christine’s happiest times were spent carrying on her family tradition of camping in Joe’s Valley with her large extended family, 4th of July Parades, trips to Disneyland with her kids, and simply being surrounded by those who loved her so much.  Christine was known as the camp chef, and had the amazing ability to turn out gourmet meals surrounded by the challenges of the outdoors.  She left her family a treasure of memories, and the knowledge of her never-ending love for them.

Christine was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Michael Woodward and Judith Waters.  She is survived by her husband David, her children Clint Muhlestein (Camille), Todd Muhlestein, Troy Muhlestein (Julie), Jenny Loftus (Allen), Angela Mellor (Mark) and Emily Larsen (Justin), 23 grandchildren, and 22 great grandchildren, her sister Bonnie McMullin and brother, Robert Woodward and her beloved longtime companion, Daisy the Cat.

We loved Chris and were often recipients of her kindness and Christmas candy that was “to die for.” It was always so much fun to be in her home, always so beautifully decorated and filled with an atmosphere of love and warmth.
