It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Charlott “Smalls” Johnson. Charlott was born on July 14, 1954, in Spanish Fork, Utah, to Dean and Helen Beckstrom of Lakeshore, Utah. She passed away peacefully at her home in Payson, Utah, on December 4, 2025, at the age of 71.
Charlott grew up in Lakeshore with her three older sisters and her dog, Peppy. She attended Spanish Fork High School and graduated in 1972. On July 14, 1972, Charlott married Darrell Johnson in Lakeshore, Utah. On May 24, 1984, they were sealed with their three children—Jason, Amie, and Shawn—for time and all eternity in the Provo Utah Temple.
While raising her family, Charlott worked tirelessly to ensure her children had everything they needed. She worked in the cherry orchards, did laundry at the Comfort Inn, and tied bows for See’s Candies. However, her greatest calling was that of a full-time mother. Nothing mattered more to her than her family and their well-being.
Charlott loved the Christmas season and did her best to make it magical for everyone in her circle. She enjoyed crime-solving shows such as Matlock, Castle, Columbo, NCIS, and Rizzoli & Isles. Her all-time favorite may have been Everybody Loves Raymond, which often felt true to life. She loved dogs and had several over her lifetime. Having had a father and husband who served in the military, she was very patriotic and assembled poppie flowers for Veteran’s Day each year. She was deeply aware of those in need and constantly looked for ways to lift the underdog.
Despite her own challenges and declining health, she believed in following the example of the Savior by serving others. We are forever indebted to her example of charity and kindness. A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Charlott served in numerous callings over many decades and touched countless lives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dean and Helen Beckstrom; her brother, Lenard Earl; and her sister, Joyce. She is survived by her husband, Darrell Johnson; her three children, Jason (Leslie), Amie (Brook), and Shawn (Diana); 15 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
