Charles Warren Ashmore September 1, 1928 - November 8, 2018

Charles Warren Ashmore, age 90, returned to his Heavenly Father on November 8, 2018.  He was surrounded by his family and passed away peacefully.

He was born in Quinton, Oklahoma, on September 1, 1928, to William Raymond Ashmore and Ola Belle Baker.  He served in the Marine Corps as a radioman during the Korean War.  He married his eternal companion, Dora Lillian Harrington, in the Mesa Arizona Temple in 1950.

Charles was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a full-time Spanish-speaking mission in the southwest United States. He loved serving others and magnified any calling he received.  He loved to do the work of the Lord and was happiest doing so.  He and Dora served together for many years in the Seattle Washington Temple; and, later served as missionaries in the Nauvoo Illinois Temple.

His hobbies were fishing, bowling, watching sports, and spending time with his family.  He loved to cook for family gatherings, especially Thanksgiving dinner. He prepared amazing Mexican food.  He made pounds upon pounds of fudge, which was a favorite of everyone he knew, for the Christmas holidays.

Charles is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers: Wayland, Bill, and Lee; his granddaughter, Haylee; along with many beloved family pets.  He is survived by his eternal companion of almost 68 years, Dora; four children: Jim (Charlene), Lynda (Paul), Terri (Jim), and Joel (Rhonda); 22 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren; as well as sisters: Joyce, Luana, Peggy; and brothers: Don, Dean, and Jim … and by, of course, Mitzi, their dog.

Our family is saddened by our loss, but know that Charles is whistling in Heaven, as he often did here on earth.
