Charles Eugene Brown
January 29, 1948-September 27, 2024
Charles Eugene Brown, 76, passed away peacefully at his home in Provo, Utah, on September 27, 2024. Born on January 29, 1948, in Denver, Colorado, Chuck was the beloved son of George D. Brown and Beula Leona West. He spent his entire life in Provo, Utah, living in the same house for all 76 years of his remarkable life. His parents were older and couldn’t take care of the yard. When he was ready to be married, he bought the house he grew up in from his parents, and they moved into a condominium.
On June 7, 1974, Chuck married the love of his life, Debra Giles, in Springville, Utah. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past June, a testament to their enduring love and devotion.
Chuck graduated from Provo High School in 1966 and later attended Brigham Young University, where he majored in Range Science, driven by his deep love of nature. He dedicated 39 years of service to the Pacific States Cast Iron Pipe Company, with much of his career spent working in the environmental department.
Bowling was a significant passion for Chuck and became a cherished family tradition. He was active in his high school’s bowling club and was a league bowler for many years. He served as the league secretary for the Mountain West Majors for over two decades. He contributed to the sport as a Utah State Bowling Association Board member serving as its President for one year. In 2011, Chuck was honored by being inducted into the Utah State Bowling Hall of Fame for Meritorious Service. He took immense pride in seeing his son Scott follow in his footsteps, being inducted into the Hall of Fame for Superior Performance and enjoyed watching his grandson Luke excel in tournaments throughout the region.
Chuck also had a lifelong commitment to scouting, achieving the rank of Eagle Scout as a young man. For 30 years, he served as a dedicated Cubmaster and Webelos Leader. In 2009, he was awarded the prestigious Silver Beaver Award, the Boy Scouts’ highest recognition for adult volunteers.
Outside of his professional and community contributions, Chuck had many passions. He was an avid fan of BYU sports and Cincinnati Bengals football. He enjoyed attending plays and live entertainment with Debra, and cherished spending time at his grandchildrens’ performances and sports games. He also enjoyed the Marvel Universe and the Lord of the Rings.
Chuck is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Debra, and their four sons: Conan Brown, Scott Brown (Megan), Shawn Brown (Chelsea), and Kevin Brown (Arianna). He also leaves behind 17 grandchildren, each of whom he adored. His sister, Georgea Elizabeth Moore, and his grandson, Colten Brown, preceded him in death.
Charles’s kindness, generosity, and dedication to his family, community, and the things he loved will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy lives on through his family and the many lives he touched.
Funeral Services will be held to honor Charles’s remarkable life and legacy. A viewing will be held on Thursday evening, October 3, 2024, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 85 South 900 East in Provo, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm and prior to the services the next morning from 9:30 am to 10:45 am. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 4, 2024 at 11:00 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 85 South 900 East in Provo, Utah.

September 30, 2024 at 5:33 pmChuck will be missed dearly! He was a fine man: steady, consistent, loyal. He was quiet, but kind.
I’ve always loved the yard/garden that he kept. From the golden delicious apple tree, to the trumpet vine on the swing pole, to the plum tree and rhubarb plant.
He was an awesome Webelos leader. I always looked forward to our meetings. I recall him teaching us about Newtons laws of motion, inertia, and pressure and vacuum properties. One lesson was with a large glass apple juice jug. He placed a small paper fire inside and covered the opening with a peeled hard boiled egg – as the fire consumed the oxygen, creating a vacuum, it sucked the egg inside and it exploded!
I remember going with him and Shawn to Harts on Canyon Road in Provo to get a fountain drinks and candy. Who can forget his large insulated mug that refilled everyday!
