Charles Brant Lewter, also known as “Brant”, set sail on his final adventure on July 30, 2024. Born on August 11, 1988, in Bakersfield, CA, Charles lived a life that was nothing short of adventurous, courageous, and resilient. A true testament to his spirit, Charles was the embodiment of the quote, “Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming ‘Wow! What a Ride!'”
Brant was a man of many hats – a world traveler, gunsmith, fitness competitor, basketball player, and a humorist who could tickle the sternest of ribs. He served seven years in the United States Coast Guard, amassing seafaring tales that would make Captain Ahab blush. Not one to be bested by a mere brain cancer diagnosis in his mid-20s, Charles displayed an enviable resilience. With wit sharper than a surgeon’s scalpel, he continued to compete in fitness competitions, shoot hoops, and live life on his own audacious terms.
Brant doted on his beloved dog Ivy, was the cherished uncle to 15 nieces and nephews, and maintained an unwavering dedication to his family. He is survived by his mother, Aramanda Hakes; his sisters Aurora Campbell, Rita Trumbull, Crystal Goodwin, Ashley Sansotta, and Cassie Madrigal; his brothers-in-law David Campbell, Alex Trumbull, Philip Sansotta, and Devan Madrigal; and his grandparents Mattie and Dan Hakes.
Brant’s visitation will be held at 1552 East 750 South, Spanish Fork, Utah, 84660, on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at 1:00pm MDT, followed by the funeral service at 2:00pm MDT.
To celebrate Charles’ witty and adventurous spirit, we encourage you to share your favorite memories, anecdotes and photos on his memorial page. As we say our goodbyes, let’s remember Charles as he was – a man who lived life loudly, courageously, and always with a twinkle in his eye.
