In the early morning of Wednesday, April 28, 2021, our dear Cathy peacefully passed through the veil of mortality. Those who knew her knew of her sunny and friendly disposition. She had a light that drew other people to her and encouraged them to become their best selves.
Cathy graduated from BYU with a degree in international Relations and spoke three languages: English, French, and Japanese. While studying at BYU, she met then married, Jason Carling, who she was sealed to in the Seattle Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They have four children and five grandchildren. She was most proud of her two daughters and two sons. One of her greatest joys was discovering the art of being, and becoming, a great mother and grandmother.
In addition to her family, Cathy had many things she enjoyed. She always enjoyed reading a book. When she was young, that meant many trips to the library for printed books. As she got older, there were “books on tape.” Most recently. she had been listening to audiobooks on her phone. Cathy loved her dogs and they loved her back: Athena, Anubis; and Rhea, her Doberman. She was also fond of camping, preparedness, crafting, and BYU football.
No better friend could be asked for. No better disciple could be found. She always had oil in her lamp. Always ready to lend a helping hand.
We will miss her, until we meet again.
