Catherine Ann Carling April 16, 1970 - April 28, 2021

Services will be live-streamed;
access link will show after 11:45 a.m. on May 3, 2021

In the early morning of Wednesday, April 28, 2021, our dear Cathy peacefully passed through the veil of mortality.  Those who knew her knew of her sunny and friendly disposition.  She had a light that drew other people to her and encouraged them to become their best selves.

Cathy graduated from BYU with a degree in international Relations and spoke three languages: English, French, and Japanese.  While studying at BYU, she met then married, Jason Carling, who she was sealed to in the Seattle Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  They have four children and five grandchildren.   She was most proud of her two daughters and two sons.  One of her greatest joys was discovering the art of being, and becoming, a great mother and grandmother.

In addition to her family, Cathy had many things she enjoyed. She always enjoyed reading a book. When she was young, that meant many trips to the library for printed books. As she got older, there were “books on tape.” Most recently. she had been listening to audiobooks on her phone.  Cathy loved her dogs and they loved her back: Athena, Anubis; and Rhea, her Doberman.  She was also fond of camping, preparedness, crafting, and BYU football.

No better friend could be asked for.  No better disciple could be found.  She always had oil in her lamp.  Always ready to lend a helping hand.

We will miss her, until we meet again.

A visitation for family and friends of Cathy will be Monday, May 3, 2021, from 10:30 – 11:45 a.m. at Walker Funeral Home, 187 South Main Street, Spanish Fork, Utah 84660.  Her funeral service will be at 12:00 Noon, also at the funeral home; and, will be live-streamed. Check back at this obituary after 11:30 a.m. on May 3, 2021 to view. Following the services, Cathy will be laid to rest at the Spanish Fork City Cemetery, 420 South 400 East, Spanish Fork, Utah 84660.

    Jason and kids,
    What a loss! I have a several memories of Cathy as a mother of her young kids. Despite debilitating migraines, the house was organized, dinner was served, the kids were happy, responsible, and well-behaved (well, Melanie was giving everyone a run for their money!). I’ll always remember the Christmas morning I spent as a missionary in your Tennessee home. Love to you all! Xo

    My new favorite song when our friends and family pass away. It certainly says what I am feeling.
