Carrie Jacobsen February 13, 1948 - January 20, 2026

Carrie Dawn Sharp Jacobsen graduated from this Earth life on January 20, 2026, in Payson, Utah surrounded by family. She was greeted on the other side by her husband, Terry Lynn Jacobsen, and her parents and many other loved ones. She was welcomed to this Earth on February 13, 1948, in Salt Lake City Utah to Robert D. Sharp and Jacqueline Devereaux Sharp. She was raised in Arleta, California and attended John H. Frances Polytechnic High School in Sun Valley.

She was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many roles. Her favorites were with the youth either teaching Primary music or coaching volleyball. She loved singing alto to the hymns and made sure her children could sing Handel’s Messiah – Hallelujah Chorus before allowing them to sing with the Disney Land Choir. She took pride in praising The Lord by singing the correct words and notes.

Carrie loved people and serving them. Early in life she worked as a dress maker and seamstress. She used those skills to not only clothe herself and her children but to make or alter endless wedding and bridesmaid dresses and other clothing items for others. She developed many other skills during her lifetime. She catered events, made wedding cakes, baked goods, babysat, volunteered at school all to serve those around her.

She spent the majority of her adult life in Simi Valley where she was widowed in her 30’s and raised seven biological children singlehandedly. As her children grew up, she opened her home to other children of working parents who needed childcare help. She loved being able to meet the needs of those around her. She opened her door to every single young male summer door-to-door salesman that knocked on it. She would invite them to dinner with the enticement that she had six daughters. Her giving knew no bounds.

Carrie had a quick and sassy sense of humor. She was funny and engaging and people responded to her. She enjoyed making friends and had them everywhere, the bank, grocery store, gas station, etc. Quick errands or leaving church on time were impossibilities. There were conversations to be had. She talked to and remembered any and everybody she encountered. She once yelled across the street to a visitor of our neighbor. She called the lady’s name correctly to the shock of the lady and our neighbor. Turns out she went to kindergarten with this woman and recognized her some 30 years later. People were important to her.

In her later years, Carrie once again opened her home to others to fill the rooms her children had left empty. She filled her golden years working with the school district as a paraprofessional with special needs students. After retirement she was a caregiver for her parents. She loved singing, reading, cross stitch, caring for pets, watching old movies, talking to her dad, talking to her children, begging for grandchildren, collecting salt and pepper shakers and other knicknacks that needed to be dusted all the time.

She is survived by her two brothers, David (Maureen) and Kelly Sharp, her seven children, Kristy (Vernon) Robison, Dawn (Derek) McLaughlin, Jody (Stuart) Mortensen, Jamie (Chris) Wells, Keline (Matt) Kempton, Spencer (Sarah) Jacobsen, and Kathryn (Miguel) Westbrooks, her twenty-eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. *No unions came from the summer salesmen.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 14, 2026, at noon at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 1276 Erringer Road in Simi Valley, California.
