Carol Michelle Shafaghi, of Payson, Utah, passed away in Provo, Utah, early in the morning of May 11, 2025 … Mother’s Day, and although she’s gone too soon, the day she left is fitting because she was a mother-figure to so many.
She was born in Pomona, California on June 29, 1964, to Allen Cornwell and Linda Rose Tedder Cornwell. She grew up in Pomona, and graduated high school in San Diego, California. In her youth, she also lived with her family in Hawaii and Japan, as her father served in the U.S. military.
As a young woman, she spent time in San Diego, and Temecula, California. In 1995, Carol married Ramin Shafaghi in Las Vegas, Nevada. She moved to Utah in May 2022 to take care of her parents.
For 25 years, her employment was as an administrative assistant in the electronics manufacturing industry.
Carol is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, having been baptized in Sterling, Utah.
Carol loved, and has an appreciation for, music … listening to it, as well as attending concerts, especially Tony Suraci music. She enjoyed art history and going to museums. She appreciated all of God’s nature. She delighted in travelling the world and especially had an affinity for cruises. Her travels included Alaska; Europe, and Mexico. Her favorite food was a bean and cheese burrito smothered with sour cream.
She was a caring individual, always concerned for others, and who took people for who they were, and not to sweat the small stuff. She was a mother-figure to Ashley and David (children of her sister, K.C.) along with being a loving aunt to her other nieces and nephews. Carol was a “giver of life.” She was kindness incarnate … a living, walking, talking testament to the goodness that still lives in this world. The world is a darker place now that her mortal life has been extinguished, but her light will shine forever in the hearts of the many who loved her and whom she loved in return. Carol’s beauty, both internal and external, will be remembered fondly.
Carol is survived by her mother, Linda Cornwell of Payson, Utah; her sister, K.C. (Marcus) Padilla of Bullhead City, Arizona. Also survived by Ramin Shafaghi; Aunt Anne; many nephews and nieces; and a multitude of friends, especially Roseann, Kelly, Travis, Ada, Shanee, Lara, Sharon, and Kris. Carol is preceded in death by her father, Allen Cornwell.
In honoring her request, Carol will be cremated. Graveside services will be held on Monday morning, June 30, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the Santaquin City Cemetery, 100 East 300 South, Santaquin, Utah.
