Carol Goold Livestream Broadcast

Carol Jean Goold passed away peacefully on June 20, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on Christmas Day, 1936, in Omaha, Nebraska, to Dr. Herbert and Marian Blackstone and was raised in Bridgeport, Nebraska, alongside her cherished sisters, Mary Ann Strong (Donald) and Ann Lott (Roger).

Carol attended Cottey College in Nevada, Missouri, and later graduated from the University of Kansas. She began her professional life as an elementary school teacher, a role that reflected her natural warmth, intelligence, and love of children.

On March 18, 1960, Carol married the love of her life, Jay Goold. They met on a Sunday and were engaged by Thursday—a love story as bold and beautiful as the life they built together. Over their 53 years of marriage, they raised seven sons—Grant (Shelley), Phillip (Heather), Brian (Patty), Ken (Amee), Michael (Rene), Mark (Catherine), and Russell (Catherine)—and were blessed with 24 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. Their posterity is a living tribute to their shared devotion and joyful partnership.

A true pioneer of “boy mom” life, Carol was a lifelong supporter of the Boy Scouts of America. Under her steady guidance and encouragement, all seven of her sons earned the rank of Eagle Scout—an extraordinary family accomplishment. In recognition of her years of dedicated service, Carol was honored with the prestigious Silver Beaver Award, a reflection of her lasting influence on countless young lives.

Carol was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout her adult life. She served faithfully in many callings, including as ward organist for several decades—a quiet but powerful form of ministry she fulfilled with reverence and joy. Later in life, she and Jay served together as full-time missionaries in the California Sacramento Mission, deepening their shared faith and purpose.

Known for her quick wit, funny sayings, and irrepressible sense of humor, Carol brought light and laughter wherever she went. The Goold home was a place of open doors, loud laughter, and unconditional love. Her sons’ friends were treated like her own, and anyone who entered her home felt both welcomed and seen.

Carol’s life was marked by kindness, quiet strength, unwavering faith, and deep devotion to those she loved. She leaves behind a legacy of service, humor, resilience, and grace that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Carol was lovingly cared for in her final years by devoted family members—especially Grant and Shelley Goold. The family also wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate caregivers and the dedicated staff at Covington Senior Care Facility. Their kindness, patience, and attentive service were deeply appreciated by Carol and all who loved her. We thank each of them from the bottom of our hearts.

She is deeply loved and will be missed beyond words.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Carol’s name to the LDS Humanitarian Fund or the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at the Elk Ridge 1st Ward, 259 East Alpine Drive, Elk Ridge, Utah.

Growing up with the Goold family was such a blessing. Sister Goold at the organ every Sunday is a permanent memory I cherish. Every chapel I walk into no matter where I am think fondly back to my time in Sacramento and Sister Goold at the organ. You leave behind a beautiful family legacy. Thank you for sharing your love and your talent.
To the Goold family, please accept my family’s and my heartfelt condolences at this time. Your mother truly was an inspiration.

Carol is a dear friend and I miss her greatly! After Jay and Carol moved to Elk Ridge, she was assigned to be my visiting teacher and we became great friends. She was the best visiting teacher! She didn’t just call or visit once a month, she would call often, brought thoughtful gifts for holidays and always asked how she could help. She came up and gardened with me and helped me clean the garage. After Jay passed away, she often joined Ray and I for dinner or a drive. We went up to Swiss Days several times and enjoyed great music and food. After my husband passed away, we enjoyed walking the Spanish Fork Trail on Saturday mornings together, went to Hale Center Theater, We CAN humanitarian activities, book club, church activities and drives up over the Nebo Loop. She joined me on trips to watch grandchildren at a soccer tournaments. Carol was so much fun and we laughed a lot together. We shared favorite books and music. One of her favorite sayings was, “If you don’t like your lot in life, put a service station on it!” She often told fun stories of growing up in Nebraska, of her father who was a country doctor, of fun things she did with her friends and attending an all girls college. She spoke lovingly of Jay and their life together, her great love for the farmers and dairy industry. She was very proud of her seven sons and her grandchildren and spoke of you with love and gratitude. It was always a delight to be with Carol, to feel her love for the Lord, her family and friends, to laugh and just enjoy this beautiful life. I will be forever grateful for her friendship.
