Carol H. Boyack Lundell June 12, 1932 - July 17, 2020

Our Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and friend, Carol H. Boyack Lundell, peacefully passed away at her home, surrounded by her family and loved ones on July 17th, 2020.

Carol was born June 12th, 1932, in the family home in Spanish Fork, Utah.  She is the first of 2 children born to Mark Fenton Boyack and Hilda Van Leuven Boyack. She married Roy Wylie Lundell on January 15th, 1951 in the Salt Lake Temple.

Carol lived her entire life in Spanish Fork, a city and community that she loved.  She was a proud graduate of Spanish Fork High School in the class of 1950.  While in high school she was very involved with many social activities and organizations.  She was a very good student and loved to learn and study many subjects.  She was an amazing speller and was always the best person to ask the correct spelling of any word.  She was one of 3 cheerleaders at the High School and cultivated a love of many sports.

Carol met the love of her life, Roy Wylie Lundell, during High School. Carol was in the FHA (Future Homemakers of America) and Roy was in the FFA (Future Farmers of America).  The two groups had a big party at the Benjamin swimming pool and that is where they met.  They started talking during lunch and would say “hi” in the hallways.  She was thrilled the first time he asked her to dance after a High School basketball game and then asked to walk her home.  They started dating after that in group dates and double dates.

Carol was a big fan of the Spanish Fork Dons, BYU Cougars, Utah Jazz and New York Yankees.  She and Roy were very involved in the Little League baseball organization in Spanish Fork and were always there to support and volunteer.  At home, her TV was always tuned to the game she loved.  Roy was a Red Sox fan and she rooted for the Yankees, so it was a lot of fun to watch the two of them tease each other during the game.  Both she and Roy were the best supporters of their kids and grandkid’s activities.  They never missed attending a game or activity to offer their encouragement and love.  At the conclusion of the performance or game the grandkids would always get a $1 bill from her.

Carol’s greatest joy was her family!!! Many Sundays she would gather us together for dinner.  It didn’t matter that she was working in a small little kitchen, she and dad wanted their family and loved ones to be with them.  New Year’s was always fondue with lots of food and fun, we will miss our mother, the traditions, and the love and memories she created for us and our families.

Carol was very active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served faithfully in many callings. Roy and Carol served as missionaries at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Employment Center and the Family History Center. She was active in the community serving as PTA President at the Brockbank elementary school. She loved writing her Christmas lists using her short-hand skills.  She was a very good golfer and an accomplished seamstress. She loved scrapbooking and worked at “Keeping Memories Alive” for years and loved her job there.

Carol had many friends in her lifetime and cherished those friendships including her dear cousins with whom she kept close contact.  She is an amazing woman who had a great love for people, life and family.  We imagine that on her return she was met with tears, hugs, and overwhelming love by her parents, grandchildren, cousins and many, many loved ones.

Carol is survived by four children.  Shelley (Kevin) Reid of Orem Utah, Denise (Douglas) Cooper of Springville Utah, Patrice (Maurice) Jones of St. George Utah (Presiding over the Merida, Mexico Mission) and Dr. Randy (Rebeccah) Lundell of Spanish Fork Utah. She was blessed with 20 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Mark Fenton and Hilda Van Leuven Boyack, brother, Mark Allen Boyack, grand-daughter, Ashley Reid Bunting, grandson, Cameron McCall Cooper, and great-granddaughter Claire Ally Lynn Cooper.

Sorry to hear of Carol’s passing. She was a lady in all senses of the word. She was just at my brother’s funeral last year and she looked so young. I pray her family will find comfort and peace at this very difficult time.
