Carol Wyatt Darley Critchfield was welcomed to this earth on March 09, 1942, to devoted and loving parents Ileen Hall Wyatt and George Woodrow Darley in Wellsville, UT.

Carol brought with her attributes of love, compassion, understanding, joy, bravery, strength, and humility. She loved her parents, her sister Kay, and her brother Steven dearly.

On December 1, 2021, our dear mother, with solid resolve, having fought a courageous battle bravely, and surrounded by her loving five children, who love her more than words can convey, observed her bravery, strength, with her dignified grace and beauty . . . she left this world, and entered the next, to be welcomed home by her other three children, who have anxiously been waiting for her return.

After graduating from Minico High School, in Rupert, Idaho, she attended LDS Business College in Salt Lake City, Utah. Upon graduation, she worked at Cassia National Bank in Burley, Idaho. She married Gale Edward Critchfield in the Idaho Falls Temple on August 09, 1963. Together they were blessed parents of nine children. Mom was devoted to her family and would do anything and everything for each one. The most important service she gave was teaching her children, grandchildren, and friends how to be compassionate, love deeply, forgive, and live honorably within the walls of her own home.

Mothers’ home was opened and welcomed to everyone, meals were prepared and shared, and those who stayed often returned to continue their friendship. Her love was endless and unconditional.

Mom was a hard worker who sacrificed for many; she loved to see her children and grandchildren succeed in their endeavors and was also their greatest cheerleader encouraging them to do their best. Mom had a deep love and gift for nurturing. She was delighted and welcomed each of her grandchildren. Her greatest joy was that of being a mother, grandmother, and you could always find a grandchild or great-grandchild nestled within our mother’s loving embrace.

Mom cared deeply for all living things, plants, animals. When she wasn’t caring for her children, she watched and nurtured a sick or injured animal or plant, encouraging them to live.

Mom took joy in caring for her house plants, and they thrived throughout her home. She loved to garden, home canning by preserving the toil of her labor through the summer months to be enjoyed through the winter months. She loved reading the scriptures in the early morning quiet time, reading various books and articles, word searches, 1000-piece puzzles, embroidery, quilting, and spent countless hours cooking and sewing.

Carol knew her Savior, Jesus Christ, and emulated his pure love. She loved the Lord and spent much time seeking and learning of him. A humble and dedicated servant always willing to serve, mom was a visiting teacher, served in the Baptistry as a temple worker at the Provo, UT Temple, primary teacher, and always offering compassionate service to others.

A true angel and treasure that we’ll wholeheartedly miss every second, every minute, every hour, of every day. We all love you infinitely and are broken-hearted that you are no longer beside us. We know that you were welcomed with open arms by Our Savior, your children, your parents, grandparents, sister, many other family and friends that have passed on. What a glorious reunion.

Carol is survived by Gale Edward Critchfield, and six of her children: Daniel Edward Critchfield, Kamela Carol (Todd) Wilkerson,  Gayla Lynn Critchfield, Stephanie Jill (Kyle) Wignall, George Scott Critchfield, Natalie Annette Critchfield; fourteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; her sister, Katherine (Dwight) Whittaker; and her brother, Steven (Kathy) Darley.

She was preceded in death by an infant sister, Ileen Darley; her parents, George Woodrow Darley and Ileen Hall Wyatt Darley; her infant daughter, Melba Elizabeth Critchfield; her son, Elder Gale Stanley Critchfield; and her daughter, Janna Ileen Critchfield Daley.
