Carol Bahr Wood-DeGraw, 78, our beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister, Teacher and Friend passed away Friday September 20, 2024, in Payson, Utah surrounded by her family.
She was born November 9, 1945 in Spanish Fork, Utah the daughter of Darrell and Mae Robertson Bahr. She was one of 7 children raised in Salem, Utah. She attended schools in Salem and Spanish Fork, graduating in 1964.
Soon after graduation, she married the love of her life, William H. (Bill) Wood in the Manti LDS Temple on March 5, 1964. Together they settled in Salem and started a family of 4 children. She enjoyed traveling, especially taking family trips to California and Disneyland, Mesquite, and going camping.
While raising their family, Carol decided to further her education by attending Brigham Young University, obtaining her Bachelor’s Degree in 1983 and then her Master’s in Elementary Education in 1988. She absolutely loved teaching children. During her 30-year career she worked at various schools within Nebo school district, mainly teaching 1st through 3rd grades and served as an Intern Coordinator at Wilson Elementary.
Her beloved husband Bill passed away in 1997. A few years later, she married Terry DeGraw in the Provo LDS Temple on April 8, 2000, and added his children, Mark (Pam) DeGraw and Cindy (Bob) Shepherd, and their children, to her family.
Carol was a very talented seamstress, and loved quilting and crafting. She was also very active, and enjoyed playing softball, racquetball, volleyball, camping, and riding ATVs. Her greatest joy was being a grandma and grandma-great. She loved “tending”, and spent many hours having tea-parties, playing pretend, having sleepovers and snuggling, throwing the best Halloween parties, and just generally being a best friend and teacher to all of her grandkids. She also loved her animals and had many pets throughout her life, but especially loved her little companion Sadie who was constantly by her side the last few years.
Carol was an active member of the LDS church, serving in various callings throughout her life.
Carol is survived by her children, Michael William (Shannon) Wood, Salem; Russell Lee (Wendy) Wood, Salem; Michelle Wood (Clyde) McKean, Salem; Tammi Wood (Steve) Campbell, Florida. 13 grandchildren, 10 great- grandchildren, and multiple step grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Darrell and Mae, stepfather Don Wilson, both husbands, Bill and Terry, brothers Carl Bahr and Don Jay Wilson, brother-in-laws Neil Davis and Arlen Johnson, and one granddaughter, Taylor McKean.
The family would also like to give special thanks to the sweet CNAs and staff at Orchard View Assisted Living, as well as her hospice Nurse, Leslie Breathwaite. Also to all of her special ladies who helped make her feel beautiful in her final days.
