Calvin John Hancock April 11, 1941 - February 4, 2022

Calvin John Hancock was born April 11, l941, to Melvin and Anna Amanda Mackey Hancock, at the hospital in Payson, Utah.  He passed away quietly, in his home, Friday, February 4, 2022, with his sweet wife by his side.

He started out his life living in Spanish Fork Utah, but later moved to ldaho. He spent time as a youth on a cattle ranch and a fruit farm in ldaho. While he was still in grade school, he moved back to Spanish Fork, where he’d spend the remainder of his childhood. He had two brothers, Everett and Glade Benjamin; and one, sister Carol. He was preceded in death by both his brothers, and his dad and mom.

Calvin attended Spanish Fork high School where he played basketball. He graduated from high school in 1959. After high school, he attended Utah Technical school, which today is Utah Valley University. This was where he received his machinist certificate. He then went on to enlist in the U.S. Navy where he spent 4 years on the USS Cascade. He traveled from San Francisco to ltaly to Cuba and various places doing work as a machinist. He always talked fondly of being in the Navy. He truly loved his country and was proud to serve.

He spent the remainder of his working days, up to retirement, as a machinist at Valtek/Flowserve where he became a master machinist.

Calvin married Georgia Norman, March 10, 1967, and they had four sons: Richard, Curtis, Brent, and Brian. They were later sealed May 13, 1982, in the Provo Temple.

He loved his family and was always there for them. He loved sports and instilled a love of sports in his boys. He coached them in baseball and basketball. He also taught them to love the outdoors. Calvin was always happy when he was in the mountains, either hunting or fishing or just going on a ride. What gave him pure joy was being in the mountains with his family. He loved his deer camps. He would get together with his brother-in-law, Demont Horrocks, who was also his best friend, and plan out the trips. They would gather their boys and off they would go. Getting deer did not matter; it was being together and just enjoying the outdoors.

Calvin has 15 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, which became his life in later years. They meant everything to him and him to them. You could always see how his eyes lit up, no matter how he was feeling, when they were around. The same could be said of his grandchildren, when they saw him.

Calvin was a man that people always loved, when you met him you could not help but love him. He was a kind, gentle, quiet, but powerful man. He was the true meaning of what a son, brother, dad, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend really should be. He always gave it his all. You always knew where he stood and he never backed down. He was a man of pure heart that loved his Savior and was a great example to all that knew him. He served in the church faithfully. He had many callings. The one he cherished the most was working as a temple worker in the Manti Temple with his sweet wife  Georgia.

Calvin is survived by his eternal companion, Georgia; his sister, Carrol Horrocks; his sister-in-law, lrene Hancock; his children: Richard (Kate) Hancock, Curtis (Tricia) Hancock, Brent (Amber) Hancock; his precious 14 grandchildren, and his 4 sweet great-grandchildren. Calvin was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Amanda Hancock; his two brothers, Glade Benjamin and Everett Hancock; his brother-in-law, Demont Horrocks; his son, Brian Lewis Hancock; and his grandson, Derek Brian Hancock.

We all will truly miss Calvin and the love he poured on all who met him. We are all comforted knowing he is with his Savior and we shall see him again.
