Calvin B. Duzett, 90, of Farmington, New Mexico and Casa Grande, Arizona, passed away July 15, 2026 at the Beehive Home in Payson, Utah where he had been residing for the past 2 years.
Calvin was born on September 27, 1935 to Robert and Vera Duzett, in Emery, Utah. He grew up in Emery and graduated from South Emery High School, class of 1953 as student body president, and then from Stevens Henager College with a degree in accounting. He married his high school sweetheart, Mary Lou Young in 1955 in Manti, Utah. They lived in Salt Lake and El Paso, then made their home in Farmington, New Mexico for many years, as Calvin worked in the oil and gas industry as an accountant. He also managed the Farmington Daily Times for several years, and finished his career as an accountant for Jerry Clayton and his Thriftway stores/gas stations. Cal had a very entrepreneurial bent and ran several businesses “on the side”; two mobile home parks, CJ Fiberglass, and Henry’s Trading Post among them.
He was active in Farmington Kiwanis for many years, and served as president. He loved bowling, fishing, hunting, gardening and horseshoes. He spent much time in church service in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, as a scoutmaster and in various ward and stake positions. He and Mary Lou served a mission supervising the Bishop’s Storehouse in Farmington for several years, organizing deliveries, donations and food orders.
His great love was his dear wife, Mary Lou. They were devoted to each other and spent lots of time laughing together. Mary Lou once said they never ran out of things to talk about. He also dearly loved his three children: Robert, Marsha, and Michele.
He had 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren and was always concerned about their welfare.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Lou, his brothers Courtney and Berg, his sister Marjorie Maxfield, and his great-granddaughter Anika Ashcroft.
Calvin was deeply generous and always willing to help. He loved jokes, teasing, playing cards, and being together with family and friends. He leaves behind many wonderful memories and a strong legacy of hard work, loyalty, laughter, and generosity.
Our family would like to express appreciation to staff and friends at Beehive Homes in Payson for several years of care and friendship.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, August 1, 2026 at 10 am at the Payson South Stake Center, 711 S. 600 E., Payson, UT.
