Brice Edward Thomas 67, of Lake Shore, UT, sadly passed away on May 3rd, 2026. A hard working man with a kind heart, Brice was always willing to help others no matter the challenge. Known by many as “Spooky,” a nickname he earned from being born on Halloween, he lived life to the fullest and left a lasting impression on everyone that knew him.
Brice was born on October 31st, 1958 in Garden City, ID, to Boyd and Carol Thomas. He was the fourth of eight children and began working at a very young age to support his family. From early on, he developed a fascination with cars and mechanics that would shape the course of his life.
Brice was a professional mechanic for more than 50 years and owned several mechanic shops throughout his life. At just 15 years old, he ran his own brake shop, and in 1987 he opened State Transmissions in Orem, which he continued operating for many years. He was known for his incredible ability to fix almost anything. Whether it was mechanics, plumbing, electrical work, fabrication, or even sewing, if something was broken, Brice could find a way to make it better than before. He was constantly innovating, building, repairing, and improving anything he touched.
Brice loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, boating, hunting, camping, snowmobiling, and riding his Harley motorcycles. He loved anything fast, from race cars to supercharged daily drivers and off-road toys. He was always tinkering with something and never one to sit still.
Above all else, Brice loved his family deeply. He was a proud father to his sons, Jeremy and Brandon, both whom followed in his footsteps as mechanics after working alongside him at State Transmissions. Brice passed down his strong work ethic and “fix-it” attitude to his boys and was immensely proud of the men they became. He also loved spoiling his grandchildren and supporting them in every way he could.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Boyd and Carol Thomas; brother Ronnie Thomas; sisters Debbie Castle, Candace Gregory, Patricia Lower; brothers-in-law Michael Gregory and Eric Mundell
He is survived by his children Jeremy (Tanza) Thomas, Brandon (Miranda) Thomas, and Felicia Thomas (adopted); grandchildren Hayden, Aalyiah, Taizley, Jereson, Jax, Oakley, Kinley, and Ace; brothers Everett “Butch” and Calvin Thomas; sister Betsy Mundell; and many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Brice will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. His memory, laughter, work ethic, and generous heart will live on through his family and everyone who was fortunate enough to know him. “See you on the other side, Dad.” May God’s arms open wide to receive this irreplaceable man. Rest in peace.
A celebration of life for Brice Thomas will be held at Canyon View Park at the Lion’s pavilion from 5:00-9:00 p.m. on Saturday May 16th, 2026.
