Brian Alan Goodson, 65, of Santaquin, Utah passed away on November 14, 2025.
Brian was born in Glendora, California, on July 5, 1960, to Leonard and Annabelle Goodson. He was raised in Pomona with his sister and two brothers. He graduated Pomona High School in 1978 and entered the U.S. Navy, where he served honorably for four years. After the Navy, Brian attended California’s Correctional Officers Academy and worked as a correctional peace officer at the Chino State Prison for 25 years.
Brian married his sweetheart Thelma Diane Sweatfield on November 8, 1989, in San Bernardino, California and was a devoted “girl-dad.” After his retirement in 2010, he and Diane relocated to Santaquin, Utah and lived the ultimate small-town life.
Brian enjoyed reading mystery novels, riding his motorcycle, and his daily games of solitaire. Most days Brian could be found sitting in his spot on the couch watching his shows whether it be NASCAR races, NFL games, NHL games, Survivor, or Big Brother on the TV. He enjoyed target shooting as well as building model airplanes and model train tables. Other pastimes included fishing, playing flight simulator games, and collecting Hot Wheels. Brian was known to brew his own beer, loved his fried SPAM and always enjoyed a good fried bologna sandwich.
Brian is preceded in death by both parents and his sister, Beverly Goodson. He is survived by his wife, Diane, and their children: Jenifer Flores, Stacy Richardson, Jamie (Scott) Lewis, Kamele Jackson, and Stephanie (David) Moreno-Goodson. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren as well as his two brothers, Leonard (Anna) Goodson and Keith Goodson.
There will be a visitation, where family and friends may gather, on Friday morning, November 21, 2025, from 9:45 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. at the Christian Life Church, 1498 South 1700 West, Payson, Utah. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. also at Christian Life Church, with Pastor Lee Ponder officiating.
