Brenda Russell, loving sister, aunt, and friend passed away October 26, 2022, at the age of 75 in Payson, Utah.
Brenda was born on September 11, 1947, to Manuel Jr. and Yvonnie Russell. She spent most of her childhood in Layton and Santaquin until graduating from Payson High School. After graduation she served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in California. She loved being a missionary and would always keep those memories close to her heart.
Throughout her life Brenda worked many jobs always meeting special people along the way. In her most happy years, she was also involved with Payson Community Theater working on many productions that brought her multitudes of pride and joy.
She loved with all her heart and touched countless souls throughout her life. She gave selflessly to her loved ones and enjoyed showing people how special they were. Anyone who knew Brenda surely has a gift from her today–a book, a trinket, or a cross stitch uniquely selected for them.
She was a master at cross stitch needle point. Her works were pristine. She also loved movies, reading, the beach, the ocean, NYC, Broadway, listening to music (especially The Statler Brothers), Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings. She was so passionate about many things, and she loved sharing her passion with others.
She was proud to be an American and had a deep respect and reverence for the flag and those who fought for her freedom.
Her devout belief in the church always carried her through her most difficult times. She truly strived to live the gospel and to achieve a worthy life.
Brenda’s love transformed the lives of everyone she encountered. She brought a bounty of beauty to everything she did…with her spirit, example, smile, and unbounding love. She had a remarkable ability to connect with people, share herself and evoke a similar spirit of love from each person she knew. Her family and friends already miss her so much but are so happy to know she has finally earned her wings!
Brenda is survived by her sister and best friend Becky Oberg, brother Wade, nephews, nieces, cousins, and many lifelong friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents in 2006.
The family wants to give a special thanks to Lyndi from hospice care for her delicate care during this past year.
A graveside service will be held in Brenda’s memory on Tuesday November 1, 2022 at noon at Payson City Cemetery. Also, the service can be viewed via Facebook Live on Tuesday.
