Blake Alan Hathaway, aged 62, passed away at home in West Valley, Utah on May 11, 2026. Blake was born to Sheldon and Francis Holm Hathaway on July 10, 1963, in Payson, Utah. Blake was the youngest of five children. He attended Park View Elementary School, Payson Jr. High School, and Payson High School; he later earned his GED and served in the National Guard.
Blake married Katherine Joy Janssen on August 30, 1985, in Las Vegas, Nevada. They settled in Payson, Utah, where they lived and raised their four children: Sydney, Brett, Sheldon, and Weston, in Blake’s childhood home that his father built.

He took immense pride in his work at Fire Engineering where he was employed for 37 years. He installed fire sprinklers and served as a master inspector. He was known as the “dry valve king.” Blake was a do-it-all handyman and spent countless hours working on cars and woodworking in his shop. He loved teaching his children mechanics and how to rebuild engines.
Blake was a simple man and relished the outdoors and enjoyed camping, riding four wheelers, and a good BBQ with family and friends. He loved his dear pets.
Blake is survived by his children: Sydney Peterson, Brett Hathaway, Sheldon Hathaway, and Weston Hathaway; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild on the way; and his brothers, Jay, Rick, Don, and Dave. He was preceded in death by his parents Sheldon and Francis Hathaway and his beloved wife Katherine.
