Beverly Ann Brady Thomas, 89, of Mapleton Utah, returned to the loving arms of our Heavenly Father and her beloved husband, Darrell Barnett Thomas, on August 28, 2025. Born on November 22, 1935 in Provo, Utah to Arlo James and Delores Jensen Brady, she was a devoted wife to Darrell and loving mother to Bonnie Jean (Merschrod-Myers) and David Brady Thomas.
Beverly was full of life and love for others. As a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, she emulated her love for our Savior Jesus Christ through her selfless service to all she came in contact with. Always thinking of others, Beverly left happiness and joy everywhere she went with her quick wit and genuine interest in others.
In 1941, Beverly’s family moved to Arlington Virginia due to her father’s military and government service. This is where she developed her sociable personality which fostered her many life long friendships.
Beverly attended Washington-Lee High School in Arlington. After graduating in 1953, she returned to Provo to attend Brigham Young University where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. BYU was a magical time for her. She was active in ToKalon Social Club, Student Body Government, and the many activities that student life provided. Of course, the most important thing BYU provided was the opportunity to meet the love of her life, Darrell. They were married September 12, 1957 in the Salt Lake City Temple and settled in Provo where Beverly taught 5th grade at Grandview Elementary in North Provo while Darrell worked on his Master’s Degree.
After Darrell finished his degree, they moved across the country to Flint, Michigan where she taught 5th grade and obtained a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Michigan.
In 1965 they adopted their first child, Bonnie Jean, and a year later moved to Kalamazoo, Michigan. Their second child, David, was adopted in 1970 and their complete family of four became instrumental in building the church in Southwestern Michigan.
After almost 45 years in Michigan, Darrell and Beverly moved back to Utah and settled in Mapleton where they built their dream home on 1200 N next to longtime family friends from Arlington.
Beverly’s lifetime commitment as a disciple of Christ was evidenced by her devotion to all of the callings she had throughout her life. Starting at the tender age of 13 as a nursery leader, to multiple callings in the Young Women’s Program, to Sunday School and Relief Society teacher, as well as 17 years in Stake Relief Society presidencies. She loved music and dancing, speech and drama and helped facilitate many Roadshows. She was even instrumental in getting the Mormon Tabernacle Choir to perform in Michigan.
Beverly was a loving, loyal and trusted friend to all and she will be greatly missed. Her legacy will live on through all who loved her and learned from her.
She is survived by her daughter Bonnie Jean (Larry) Merschrod-Myers, son David Brady Thomas, brother Roderick Paul Brady, sister Pamella (Richard) Hunt, grandchildren Brady (Sheri) Merschrod-Myers, Mercedey (Preston) Smith, Nate Merschrod-Carter, Aaron Thomas, Daric Thomas, Adison Thomas, Airalyn Thomas as well as many nieces and nephews, extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
We would especially like to thank the staff and residents of Spring Gardens (“Flowers”) of Mapleton for making the last year and a half of Beverly’s life so happy. We are eternally grateful for the tender care and love you gave her during her final moments here on earth.
A viewing will be held at Walker Funeral Home (187 S Main Street, Spanish Fork, Utah) on Friday September 26, 2025 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Saturday September 27, 2025 at Walker Funeral Home (187 South Main Street, Spanish Fork, Utah). A Visitation will begin at 9:45 am followed by the service at 11:00 am. Interment will be at the Spanish Fork Cemetery on 420 S 400 E, Spanish Fork, Utah.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to education at BYU or the Church Missionary Fund. Both are near and dear to Darrell and Beverly’s heart. give.byu.edu/memorial give.ChurchofJesusChrist.org/missionaryfund

September 27, 2025 at 6:13 pmI moved into Bev’s ward 4 years ago. I could tell right away how beloved she was by everyone. I sat by her at a relief society activity and she told me she remembered my mother from 30 years before. Then she showered me with praise and love, even calling me an angel. Bev was the angel! What a wonderful woman.
