Bessie Beddoes
Our sweet and loving Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, and Great-Great-Grandmother, Bessie Beddoes, returned to her Heavenly Father on March 23, 2020, at the age of 96. She was born December 24, 1923, in Genola, Utah, daughter of John William & Sarah Olive Littlefield Limb. She was the youngest of her siblings. She had two older brothers, Lawrence and Glen Limb; two sisters, Elfreda (Shell) and Elda (York), and two brothers that passed away very young, Ronald Orson and Fredrick Limb. She married her sweetheart, Max Lavon Beddoes, on March 30, 1943. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple on May 12, 1964. Max passed away on August 6, 2005.
Bessie grew up in Santaquin, Utah. She was baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and stayed close to the gospel her whole life.
When she was in the fifth grade, she stayed with her brother, Lawrence and his family, while she went to school. She lived with them on and off until she graduated from high school. When she was 18, she met Max through a friend. They dated for a short while, until Max had to go in the Army in January of 1941.
Bessie trained to be an LPN and she worked in the Eldred Hospital in Provo. When she retired, she was working at Tiny Tots in Orem, run by her niece, Lorraine Topham.
Being a very talented woman, she could do almost anything she set her mind to do. Working on cars, changing walls in her house, and she was great at doing wallpaper. She liked to sew, to crochet, and to garden; not too long ago, she was still doing embroidery work. She had a great love for all of her nieces and nephews.
She is survived by three of her four children: Garold (Ginger) Beddoes, Payson UT; daughter-in-law, Lee Ann Beddoes, Payson UT; Kathy (Jay) Peterson, Goshen UT; and Von Dean Beddoes, Payson UT. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, Arnold Dale Beddoes; great-grandson, Rhett Rodney Bowles; and all of her brothers and sisters.
The family would like to thank Utah Valley Hospital for the good care they gave to her. They would also like to thank A Plus Hospice for their help in taking care of her, especially her granddaughter, Andrea Braithwaite, for her tremendous help in all that she did for Bessie.
Due to the Corona Virus restrictions, the family will be holding a graveside service on Saturday, March 28, 2020, at 2 p.m. at the Payson City Cemetery.

March 26, 2020 at 9:59 pmI used to stop by from time to time, just to check on Max. Sure, I knew he didn’t really need for much, after all, he was still getting the same 24/7 care he had benefitted from for decades. But then, you know what was really going on don’t you? I needed some of that care myself! I needed someone to look me straight in the eye and correct the direction in which I seemed to headed. I always figured that Max and his kids all profited from this wisdom regularly and they wouldn’t miss the few moments Bessie could share with me.
To counsel with or by Bessie Limb Beddoes was a true experience. You received her advice, pleasure or distain in plain language, you were not going to be buttered up, and you were going to benefit from the unspoken. Those beautiful dark eyes said more in a second than most folks could say in an hour of vocalization. You knew instantly if you had her approval or not without her face changing expression. The eyes said it all. She could look at you without moving a muscle and you would swear she rolled her eyes in disbelief. Her firm and appropriate judgements were amazing but then so was her quick wit. You knew instantly when she was happy and her happiness was contagious. Bessie made you feel!
I miss the exchanges we had, I miss her wisdom and character. Those were very special times for me and they cause me to envy her family being able to benefit full time from her love and the lessons of life I know she shared with each one of them. She was special…

March 27, 2020 at 9:02 pmBessie will surely be missed. I got the pleasure of working and getting to know and love Aunt Bessie when I worked with her at Tiny Tot’s. She was always so kind, caring and loving. She was such a hard worker. It was such a pleasure to work with her, Grandma and Lorraine. I miss the good times that we all had there. Three great ladies gone too soon, but I can imagine that it was a great reunion in heaven. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family.
Love, Vickie (Dick VanAusdal’s daughter)

March 31, 2020 at 9:16 pmI loved Aunt Bessie like she was my second grandma, she was such a sweet spirit and always showed you how much she cared about everyone around her. I really wanted to come on Saturday, but this whole social distancing thing made me second guess myself. I want to express my condolence to all of you, I loved aunt Bessie dearly. I know there is a lot of rejoicing in heaven right now with all of her loved ones that have gone before her, especially her sweet husband, uncle Max.and son Arnie. I will never forget how sweet, generous and loving you were to all and I loved seeing her last summer even though it was at my dad, Richard’s funeral, she looked so good. My love and prayers go out to you all and I hope you find comfort in the days ahead even though it is a very challenging time with everything that is going on. I’m sorry I wasn’t there to tell you all this in person, I love you all and will be wishing you peace and comfort in the coming days.
