Anna Mae Finlayson Martin February 7, 1941 - September 15, 2023

It is with both sorrow and celebration of a life well lived that we announce the passing of Anna Mae Finlayson Martin. Our loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully on September 15, 2023 surrounded by family.

Ann was born on February 7, 1941 in Payson, Utah to Cleo James and Erma Lavon Hamilton Finlayson. She was raised in Salem, Utah and attended schools in Salem, Spanish Fork, and Orem.

Ann married her sweetheart, Junior (Grizz) Franklin Martin on May 30, 1957. Together they had four children. Early on in their marriage, they lived in different locations, but they returned home to Salem for long term residency.

Ann was an excellent seamstress, creating wedding dresses, prom dresses, suits, and drapes. She sewed most of her children’s clothing when they were young.

Once her children were old enough to attend school, Ann returned to school herself. She earned her GED from high school as well as two Associate degrees in accounting & electrical engineering from Utah Valley State College. Ann loved working with numbers. She was employed with H&R Block for many years and also held different accounting jobs at various businesses.

Ann was a problem solver. While the boys were busy playing baseball, she and Kathy Jermain designed a snack shake with restrooms to be built and raised funding for this project.

Ann was happiest when spending time with both family & friends while camping, fishing, and hunting. She enjoyed supporting her children and grandchildren during multiple activities throughout the years.

Ann will be deeply missed and remembered through multiple priceless memories. She survived by her children, Brent (Kaylynn) Martin, of Lyman, WY, Melanie (John) Mecham, of Richfield, UT, Michael (Brenda) Martin of Cedar City, UT. Eleven grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren. Three sister-in-laws, one brother-in-law, and multiple nieces & nephews. Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Grizz, her son, Wayne, and her parents, Cleo & Erma.

Our family would like to express our sincere gratitude to the staff at the Sandstone Care Center for the loving care that they provided.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 22, 2023 during 9:45AM – 10:45AM at the LDS Church, 470 East Salem Canal Road, Salem, UT 84653. The funeral will be following this service at 11AM. Burial location is the Salem City Cemetery, 965 South 130 East, Salem, UT.
