Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt passed away on September 3, 2021. She has joined her husband, parents, brother, and a granddaughter who have preceded her.
Ann was born to Edward James and Agnes Olive McGookin Bergman in Flagstaff, Arizona, on July 4, 1934. Her father ran trading posts on the Navajo nation, and her mother taught school. She stayed close to her older brother, Ed, throughout her life. Ann loved music and sang in the choir and played the flute in the band in Junior High, High School, College, and beyond. She met her eternal companion, Jim (James Orawell) Tenney, while attending Northern Arizona University, when she served him extra milk in the cafeteria, and it was love from that moment. Ann and Jim were married on August 22, 1953. Ann was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and then sealed to Jim and their first two children on August 22, 1957, in the Mesa Arizona Temple.
Ann and her family lived in Mesa, Arizona; in Southern California; and for 55 years in Salem, Utah. Her home was known by the cousins as the “Tenney Hilton,” and lodging and meals appeared like magic for whomever chanced to drop in.
Ann graduated from BYU with a teaching degree and taught in the Nebo School District at the Peteetneet, Park, and Salem Elementary schools. She demonstrated her love for her students with humor, music, and sharing her favorite books.
Ann was known for her lively sense of humor, whether teaching elementary school or leading the music in Sunday School. She had a way of getting to know people and loving them, whether it was a neighbor or the bus driver on a tour bus. Throughout her life, Ann served faithfully in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was an accomplished musician and especially loved playing the piano and organ, and singing in or leading the choir. After retiring, she served with Jim in the London England South Mission and worked hard at learning to drive with the steering wheel on the right.
Most of all, she loved spending time with her family. She is survived by her four children: James Blinn Tenney, Kathy Jo (Keith) Kelly, Karen (Rich) Lamb, and Ilene Tenney. They have 14 grandchildren: James Beau (Mindy) Tenney, Jason Blinn (Kaysie) Tenney, Anne (Spencer) Carrier, Sarah (Ricky) Hernandez, Margaret (Avery) Stevenson, James Richard Lamb, Sydney Lamb, Jacob Blinn Lamb, Russell Gene Lamb, and Alexandria Lamb. She has especially enjoyed her seven great-grandchildren: Marcy, Alyssa, Natalie, Derek, and Maddison Tenney; Sophie Ainge; and Elizabeth, William, James, and Owen Carrier.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 11, 2021, at the Salem 9th Ward Chapel, 60 South Main Street, Salem, Utah 84653. A viewing will be held on Friday, September 10, 2021, from 6:00-7:30 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home, 187 South Main, Spanish Fork, Utah 84660; and at the church on Saturday morning, from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m., prior to services in the chapel.
The family wishes to express profound thanks to the Valeo Home Health & Hospice staff, particularly to Pam and Ellie, for loving Mom and making her final months as dignified and comfortable as possible.
The funeral services will be broadcast from this obituary. Please return to this page on September 11, 2021 just prior to services to access the livestream HERE.

September 9, 2021 at 4:46 amI remember her leading the music or playing accompaniment at church. One special memory I had was when she and Jim went through the temple with me (and a couple of family members) when I received my endowment before my mission. I really appreciated them being there because I didn’t have very many family members who could be there with me. Jim and Ann were/are really nice people.

September 14, 2021 at 6:54 amMrs Lamb I am so sorry for you and your family’s loss. I clicked on here because she looked super familiar. Not knowing she was your mom so I had to either know her from watching your kids or from the Park school. You guys are in my thoughts and prayers. Sending my love to you all also.
