Anita Louise Barnes of Payson, Utah, Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, soon to be Great-Great Grandmother, Aunt, and Sister passed suddenly on Friday September 24th at the age of 85. She was born 1 November 1935 in Sioux Falls, Minnehaha, South Dakota; the third child born to Linus Marshall Barnes and Ruth Agnes Floyd. Later her family moved to Galt, California where she experienced many fun memories growing up with her five siblings before her family moved to Mineral County, Montana.
Anita loved her family fiercely and would sacrifice whatever she could for immediate and extended family. Anita loved instrumental music, flowers, cooking/baking, and playing games with family and friends. Among the notable events in Anita’s life is that among her 5 siblings she was the one who graduated with honors as Salutatorian of her graduating class in St. Regis, Montana. Another important event that would have the greatest influence on her life was her baptism into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1972. Anita embraced her faith and especially one of the foundational principles of the church which required genealogical research. She could be found spending many hours over 30 years searching for her ancestors, which culminated in many books lovingly prepared for her family so they could each have a copy in their own homes. She was known to do this for extended family and also friends. Those in this life and beyond the veil will honor her dedication and sacrifice on their behalf. Her little office bedroom and computer were literally surrounded with bits of paper containing names and dates and she was always delighted to tell you of the notable people you shared a lineage with. Anita is survived by son, Kenny (Lena) Seng of Spanish Fork, Utah. Her daughter Elizabeth Seng of Payson, Utah. Her brother Mike Barnes of Winnemucca, Nevada and her sister Catherine (Tom) Morrison of Columbia Falls, Montana. As well as all her beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved son Richard A. Seng, daughter-in-law Deborah Chaplain Seng, and her siblings, Floyd, Lee, and Sally Barnes. She will be greatly missed; however, we are comforted in our knowledge that we will see her again and that she is enjoying a wonderful reunion with all those she loved.
A special thank you to Anita’s caring neighborhood family of friends, Georgia Mills, Betty Bastian, Jim and Donna Ackley, and others who knew her for 20 years; playing many fun games of cards and Farkle with her. Much gratitude also to Sheryl Jepson and Vicky Luke of Aspen Senior Care for your tender care of Anita over the last year and a half.
