Alonna Ann (Lonni) Jackson Johnson passed away on November 18, 2020, after a courageous four-year battle with cancer. She was born to Cleve and Ann Jackson 43 years ago on a beautiful summer evening in June. She had a full head of pure white hair and her Dad’s blue eyes, and she looked just like an angel.
Lonni grew up and attended schools in Spanish Fork, graduating from Spanish Fork High School in 1995. After graduation, she began work at Lowes Hardware and ended up working there for 23 years.
While at Lowes, she met her husband, Scott Johnson. They were married in a backyard wedding, well attended by friends, family, and dragonflies. Her marriage to Scott brought a stepdaughter, Chawde’, to the family; and later, two sons, Cleve and Casey, came along. Never was there a mother more proud of her children! She supported them in all their activities and endeavors, and she taught them to work hard and be to good people. She loved being a mom and set a great example for them to follow.
Lonni loved to travel and had many fun trips with her family, and girl trips with her friends. She loved music, especially country music, and she loved to dance. She loved dressing nice, decorating her home with ideas from Pinterest, cuddling in a blanket to watch Hallmark movies, watching award shows with her mom, sitting on the back deck with her Dad; but mostly, spending time with her husband and kids. She had an amazing work ethic and gave her all to whatever she did. She was kind and generous and had many friends.
While enduring her many cancer treatments, Lonni always put on a brave face and was cheerful and kind with the nurses and doctors, even though she was in great pain. She was determined to do whatever it took, so that she could stay with her boys and even though it was not to be, she was a champ to the end.
Lonni is survived by her husband, Scott; her two awesome sons, Cleve and Casey; stepdaughter, Chawde’ and grandson, Aylan. She also leaves behind her parents, Cleve and Ann Jackson of Spanish Fork; her brother, John (Kallie) Jackson of Mapleton; her sister, Christine (Kirk) Peterson of Salem; and her grandparents, John and Julia Jackson of Mapleton. She will be greatly missed by her many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles, and all the friends she has made throughout her life. Family parties will never be the same.
A big thank you goes out to the staff, nurses, and doctors who cared for her at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center, the UV Cancer Clinic, and the UV Palliative Care team. A special shoutout to Collette, Rikelle, and Michelle.
Lonni loved dragonflies…dragonfly jewelry, clothes, décor, etc. She even used dragonflies as the theme for her wedding. In most cultures, the dragonfly is the symbol for transformation, free spirit, and joy. In Native American legends, the dragonfly is a symbol of resurrection and renewal after hardship. So now, like the dragonfly, our beloved Alonna has completed her journey and has transformed into a beautiful angel, just like the one that was born on that summer evening, 43 years ago.
There will be a graveside service, for family and friends, on Tuesday, November 24, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. at Spanish Fork City Cemetery.
