Allen S Cornwell December 1, 1940 - January 18, 2022

Allen S. Cornwell, 81, after battling Lymphoma, passed away peacefully, January 18, 2022, at his home in Payson, Utah.

Allen was born December 01, 1940 to Elda George Cornwell in Sterling, Utah. He was the youngest of five siblings. After losing his Father to illness, several years later, his mom remarried to a wonderful man, Frank Behunin, who helped raise him to adulthood.

Allen married the love of his life, Linda, on November 21, 1963, in Provo, Utah. They were on their honeymoon on the day President Kennedy was shot. After 58 years of marriage, he would still light up when Linda walked into the room. Up until his illness, he would always wave goodbye as she drove away and meet her at the door when she got home. They still held hands and told each other I love you daily. Their devotion for one another was a true inspiration.

Allen graduated from Provo High School. Soon after, he went to enlist in the Air Force but the Navy Recruiter was there instead. As you can guess.. haha, he ended up joining the Navy! Serving 21 years provided the family the best life imaginable, full of travel, security, and adventure!

After retirement, Allen went back to school and graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Accounting from Utah Valley University. All the young students clamored to study with him because he was so numbers savvy.

And who needed Google or the news, when we had him. His daughter looked forward to their Sunday chats when she could be sure to be caught up on current affairs, tax advice, football and their shared love of music ! The calls were always ended with the affirmed, I love you’s.

Allen could always be counted on to know and remember all his loved ones’ birth dates! He also had excellent eyesight! He could find the smallest objects lost, find that one sliver of unwanted onion in a meal served, etc.. lol. We like to think that he will be using those eagle eyes to watch over us from Heaven above.

Allen is survived by his wife, Linda, daughter, Carol Shafaghi, nieces, nephews, The Papineau’s, Padilla’s, and Tarter’s.

We would like to give a huge thank you to Cory and Kelly with Utah Home Health and Hospice. You are miracle workers and angels.

A graveside service was held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, January 21, 2022 at the Santaquin Cemetery.
