Alicia Diane Whipple peacefully and bravely graduated from her earthly life, surrounded by family and friends, on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at her home in Sandy, Utah. Alicia was born on November 2, 1974, in Murray, Utah, to Ted and Diane Anderson. She was the oldest of seven children and was raised in Rifle and Brighton, Colorado. Alicia graduated from Brighton High School, where she excelled in DECA and successfully ran the school store.
Alicia loved serving others through customer service. She was always personable and charismatic, greeting customers with kindness despite their life circumstances. She was a driven employee, constantly bettering her workplace with insightful and clever ideas. Through her connections at work, Alicia developed and cherished a 25-year friendship with Christine Garcia.
While working at Standard Optical, Alicia met Todd Whipple. Their meeting, though seemingly by chance, came at the perfect moment when they both needed each other most. Their loving and supportive marriage was cherished by both Todd and Alicia.
At the time of her passing, Alicia was working at the Moran Eye Center at the University of Utah, where she served as a research study coordinator, studying the progression of age-related macular degeneration and the effects of geographic atrophy.
Alicia’s proudest accomplishment was having and raising her daughter, Ciara Anderson. Through Ciara, Alicia experienced the joy of becoming a grandmother to Hayven, Declan and Addison Braun.
Alicia is preceded in death by her in-laws John and Linda Whipple, brother in-laws, Julio Mendizabal and Trent Whipple and furry companion, Echo. Alicia is survived by her gentle and compassionate husband, Todd Whipple; her daughter, Ciara; her grandchildren, Hayven, Declan and Addison Braun; her step-children Rylee and Aidan Whipple, her parents, Ted and Diane Anderson; and her siblings, Chad Anderson, Christian (Priscila) Anderson, Kami (Joel) Alvarez, Summer Mendizabal, Tausha (Cameron) Whiting, and Micah Anderson.
