Joan W. Durrant May 10, 1941 - May 15, 2023

Joan Warburton Durrant, loving mother, sister and grandmother peacefully passed away Monday, May 15, 2023, in her daughter’s home in Elk Ridge after a long battle with diabetes.  She was 82 years old.

Joan was born to Paul B. and Nina Lucille Warburton, on May 10, 1941, in Monterey Park, California, the third of eight children.  She is the mother of three children, 14 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren.  She loved her family more than anything else, especially the little children.

Joan grew up in American Fork, Utah, graduating from American Fork High School.  She married Darrell (Bud) Durrant on Feb 5, 1960, and was a stay-at-home mom until her children were older.  The family lived in Pleasant Grove for many years.  After her divorce in 1988 she moved to Provo.  She worked at Signetics where she created may friendships.  She later worked at Alpine Health Industries as a manufacturing line lead until her health forced her to retire.  She was loved by her co-workers.  She moved to Elk Ridge in the spring of 2001 and lived with her daughter Mindy until she passed away.

Joan loved to crochet and knit.  She made blessing dresses for her granddaughters and lots of afghans and baby blankets that were cherished.  She loved to read all kinds of books and articles.  She found the world we lived in and its people fascinating.  She was able to travel and visit significant early American and LDS Church historic sites.  Joan loved baseball and was a fan of the Atlanta Braves.  She also loved to garden and was especially fond of her roses.

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Days Saints.  She loved working in the Provo and Payson temples prior to their closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  Her decline in health prevented her from returning to temple service.

She is survived by her children Mike (Melana) Durrant, Brenda (John) Wing and Mindy (Todd) Norton.  She is also survived by her siblings Bill (Judy) Warburton, Jack (Ann) Warburton, Trudy (Roger) Colton, Barry Warburton, Ed (Karen) Warburton, Gaylene Shaia and Kendall (Cindy) Warburton.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to enhabit Home Health; Addison you were an angel.
