Louise Swain Henrie August 27, 1928 - March 28, 2023

Louise Swain Henrie of Salem, Utah passed away on March 28, 2023. Louise was born August 27, 1928, in Salina, Utah to her parents George Richard Swain and Helen Gates. She grew up in Salina and Panguitch, Utah. She attended and graduated from Garfield High school.

Louise married Verl Samuel Gardner on November 1, 1951, in the Salt Lake Temple. They raised five children: Rodney, Jeanette, Claudia, Lucille, and Jeffrey. After Verl passed, Louise married Dougals D. Henrie in the Provo Temple.

In her younger years, Louise worked as a nurse’s aide at Utah Valley Hospital and at a sewing plant. She liked going to dances and spending time with her friends and siblings.

After getting married, Louise and Verl had plenty to do on the farm they purchased. Louise had many hobbies. She loved being a member of the Utahna Riding Club, Circle Eight Square Dancers, and Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She also enjoyed exploring the great outdoors with her family. This included camping, dutch oven cooking, hiking, and traveling on Great Escapes with her brother and sisters. When she wasn’t working on the farm or in the yard, or cooking and canning for her family, she filled her time painting, quilting, crocheting, reading, listening to music, watching westerns, playing the steele guitar, studying Utah history and doing genealogy. She loved flowers and had many in her yard, especially tulips.

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many callings in the Relief Society, Young Women’s, and Primary. She had a beautiful testimony and a deep love for her Savior.

Louise is survived by her children: Rodney Verl Gardner of Salem, Utah, Jeanette Farnsworth (Orrin) of Santaquin, Utah, Claudia Gardner of Salem, Utah, Lucille Wagstaff (Quinn) of Riverton, Utah, and Jeffrey Swain Gardner (Kim) of American Fork, Utah, 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and her sister Edna Gay Fyfe (Dick) of Las Vegas, Nevada.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Helen Swain, siblings, Vivian Olsen, Maxine Jackson, Richard (Cap) Swain, and her dear spouses, Verl and Douglas. What a beautiful reunion they must be having.

The family would like to thank Salem Beehive Home and Hearts for Hospice and Valeo Home Health and Hospice who so lovingly cared for our mom.
